Weird

So, apparently I am Team Jacob and didnt even realize it. I have never, nor ever plan to, read the Twilight books so I dont technically even know what Team Jacob vs Team Edward means. I am actually sort of "anti-Twilight."But, I am Team Jacob. Why? Because I had a dream about him. Well, it wasnt about the werewolf Jacob (GROSS!) but about the actor guy who plays him. He was my boyfriend, of course. We had to get out luggage away from these people who were bad and trying to steal them from us...and then we met up with Levi Johnston. It was awesome.

If You Really Knew Me came on again this week. I didnt even realize it was going to be a series. It is sort of boring because it is the same crap as the last stuff---of course! Once again, proving my point that all teen problems are about the same. I really have started to not like this show, though, because the group totally baits these teens into feeling "sad" about their lives by telling sad stories about their own lives. Then, once the teens are all feeling sad already, they try and bring up crap about them hiding who they really are. I just dont like it. And, this may be mean to say, but wasnt the 'popular' girl at the Toledo High School in desperate need of an eyebrow waxing???

I was glad that Kaitlyn and Tyler decided to stay together on Teen Mom this week. They both really dont have anyone but each other. And I absolutely cannot wait to see Farrah struggle with paying her own bills and 'making it on her own.' She is such a brat and doesnt realize how much her parents helped her. And Macy needs to learn that if her parents are willing to keep helping her out and letting her live there and paying all of her bills, dont leave! Dont ever leave!

And now Ali's brother is a suspect in Pretty Little Liars? When did he come in to the picture? They are really grasping here. They should just tell us what happened to A and be done with it and end the show. It just cannot continue longer than one season with this same mystery!

AJ was at a meeting last night, and I totally got sucked in to watching Toddlers and Tiaras! It is frightening! I will never forget when Kathy Griffin guest judged a pageant of little girls, and the 5 year olds told her "If you cant tone it, tan it!"

Oh, and I got a job this week! I dont start until August 17th so I still have a few weeks of vacay left!

The Freddy

Remember that song (with accompanying dance) called "The Freddy?" I had forgotten all about it, until I saw Ray Liotta on a talk show this week and he mentioned it. I cant remember which show it was, but the host had no idea what he was talking about, but I DID! (I think the song was featured on Troop Beverly Hills, which is why I know it)

Oh, Christopher Moltisanti from Sopranos...first, Bobby, and now you too? I have no idea why the cast of Sopranos is drawn to Secret Life of the American Teenager, but it is weird. Christopher plays an OB-Gyn. And he looks old. And Ben doesnt like the fact that Adriann chose a male OB. Whatev. Also, what was up with the SHAMELESS product placement of the new Clean and Clear face wash thing?

Last night, I wanted to watch Last Comic Standing instead of watching HUGE, but AJ insisted we watch HUGE. I guess he likes the fat campers! I prefer laughing. Actually, I could watch Comedy Central Specials all night long. I absolutely LOVE to watch comedians! Every time we have a rental car with Sirius radio, I tune right in to the Comedy station. I am a big laugher. And a loud one.

NEW SHOW---Blossom meets Sabrina the Teenage Witch, literally! The show is called Melissa (as in Joan-Hart) and Joey (as in Blossom's brother Joey Lawrence). ABC Family may have a hit on their hands with these two in a show together! Remember Clarissa Explains It All? That show was awesome. I used to think she dressed SO COOL...and now, when I remember her outfits, they seem more tacky than anything.

On Intervention this week, the girl was bulimic and also an alcoholic. She hadnt hit rock bottom yet, so I was not at all surprised when she first refused to go...but then came around IF AND ONLY IF her family signed a contract saying that they would go to the Betty Ford Clinic for Family Rehab. I think it is always so hilarious to hear the demands of the addicted people just before they make up their mind to leave. They always have some excuse or demand, like, " What about my puppy? I have to see my puppy one last time before I leave!" or "I will go, but I have to go and get something out of locker at the gym before I go." or "What about my kid!" (you mean the one you havent seen or had custody of for 2 years? I think they will be fine.) And this lady actually literally made her family SIGN a contract written on a scratch sheet of paper. The sad thing is, is that her family DIDNT end up going at all! Even after they signed that binding contract! How rude!

MadMen started this week. Yall know how I feel about MadMen...I think its totally boring and uneventful, yet I cant bring myself to stop watching. So I watched the other night, and I was excited for it! Nothing really happened, per usual. Sometimes I think people like to say that they love this show just because it is trendy. Like sushi.

TGIF

I walk AJ to work and back every day (roughly 18-20 minute walk each way) because, really, it is the only scheduled part of my day right now. I also offer to hold his huge book bag so he doesnt get too incredibly hot before starting work (such a good wife). I call myself "Sherpa." Also, it makes me feel like I am getting a teeny workout instead of just a leisurely walk every day. Weight training, right? Why did I tell you that?

Because today on my walk back, I passed the cardiologist who was on last night's Boston Med episode. She totally wanted me to say something about how I recognized her, I just know it!

Let's talk ABC Family (which apparently is my favorite channel this summer):
The made for TV movie "Revenge of the Bridesmaids". I totally had high hopes for this movie because it looked like something right up my alley! It was an utter disappointment, and LAME. Just not even good. Dont waste your time.

Secret Life is just weaving some weird, creepy web between Ricky and Ashley (Amy's sister). Why are they doing that? Ashley is just strange anyway, and I doubt either one of them would ever go for each other in real life (because everything has to make sense in a real life application, right?). I thought the scene where whats his face told Amy that Adriann was pg with his baby was hilarious. Amy should have worked on her acting a LITTLE bit before shooting this scene because it was terrible. Oh well, she was Kaitlyn Cooper on The OC, after all...so I will give her a free pass.

There was no additional LARPING happening on this weeks' Huge episode. SAD. Do people actually like Nikki Blonsky in real life? I feel like she doesnt have to act much on the show because that is just how she is regularly. But what do I know, I guess. And speaking of terrible acting (which seems to be a theme among ABC Family shows???) the Camp Director lady is the WORST! She seriously has no idea what she is doing. And we dont care about her stupid story line anyway! No one cares about her old boyfriend (who just so happens runs the camp next door with the cool kids) or her estranged father who she for some reason asked to be her camp cook. We just want the Fat Campers!!!

Pretty Little Liars still confuses me. I think what I know now is that the blind girl was like raped or assaulted by her brother on several occasions, and Allison found out about that when she saw them in the barn that night with the stink bomb (Am I right so far?). So now the girls think that the brother killed Allison to keep her quiet, and now he wants to kill the rest of them? So the blind girl isnt bad after all (or so they dont think)? But why didnt she want to file destroyed? Wouldnt that be a good thing? Were those cookies poisoned? HA!

Teen Mom has a lot going on this season. Big surprise that NONE of the "couples" are happy anymore. But, I do still feel bad for Kaitlyn, because her family SUCKS and she made a good choice to give her baby up for adoption. And I dont want her to have to move back in with her gross mom and her boyfriend (who look like they are on meth??). I stand by my words when I said that is Kaitlyn wanted me to, I would adopt her...even though she is probably almost 18 now. Farrah, oh Farrah...sooooooo freaking spoiled and doesnt think that she needs her Moms help at all---except for a HOME...but that is really not a big deal. UH! She is so frustrating. Another pregnancy scare for my least favorite couple? Gross. She is such a whiner. And Macie's old boyfriend just doesnt care. Bentley is still cute as ever.

John Mayer on Today show today! Holler!

Reflections

I got sick Monday night. BLAH. Who gets sick in the middle of summer? I dont think I have ever been sick in the middle of summer, except for that one time in the 6th or
7th grade when I got food poisoning from a Burger King chicken sandwich (and I was convinced I had meningitis, but that is neither here nor there). I have not eaten a BK chicken sandwich since that day.

Anyway, since I was sick the last few days, I had lots of time to reflect. And by "reflect" I mean sleep and watch TV. Here are some things I reflected upon this week :
-I now know how to have a "Martha Stewart Style" successful Lobster Boil! (I do not eat seafood)
-I learned about a lady who wrote a book called "I Love my kids, I Hate my Life." What a mean, rude lady!
-I re-newed by love for Harry Conick, Jr. NOT for his music, which, for the record, I am totally NOT into...but for him as a funny, funny person. He makes me laugh.
-I learned about Skin Bleaching: what it is, where you can get it, and who does it.
- Finally watched the Hannah Montana Movie! It did not disappoint!
-I committed to myself (after seeing the preview a gazillion times) to go and see the lame movie Charlie St. Cloud just to look at Zac Efron.

That is about it.

I watched MTV's If You Really Knew Me, where high schoolers got together into groups and were encouraged to open up and let their classmates know who they really are, so they wont judge others harshly without knowing them. Now, I have mixed feelings about this. I totally think it was a good idea for people to be more open and inviting others not like them to be in their "group." The problem I have with this show is that they totally coaxed these teens into thinking that their problems are so individualized, and that their lives are so hard, and no one has ever been through what they are going through. And I think that is so untrue. The fact is, almost all of those teens on the show were suffering from the SAME problems...and, for the most part (of course there are a few exceptions), most of those kids probably have it pretty good in the grand scheme of things! I feel like they were making these kids MORE depressed than they already were... I dont know, it was just weird.

I am so glad that that girl got kicked of Top Chef last night. She was annoying. And I do not like that they let the other teams completely judge who went to elimination! It was obvious that they all wanted Kenny to go home because he is competition. But, geez that one judge sure did let Kenny have it! She was rude.

If you arent watching Louis on FX, you should probably tune in. It is hilarious. Warning: if you cant appreciate Its Always Sunny... then you probably wont like this.

I still have yet to watch Secret Life, Pretty Little Liars, or my fave TEEN MOM!! I saw on the first few minutes of Teen Mom that Farrah (most annoying teen mom ever) had her mom arrested for punching her in the face.

WHOAH update: Farrahs mom has a mental illness (big surprise, right?) AND she had knives in hand and ready to use when she punched Farrah. So not cool.

A Productive Week

I feel like I am pretty productive when I am not working. Actually, that is a flat out lie. I am not productive at all.

Here are the things I have been up to lately:
-I now keep Target's Snack Area afloat with the frequent purchasing of their "loaded" cookies and peanut butter rice krispy treats.
-I have convinced AJ that even though he isnt home all day long, we NEED to upgrade our cable package. Like, bad. I dont even get the Soap Network right now, people! A girl cant live without old episodes of The OC and 90210 every day! I expect the Comcast dude to be here sometime between 1 and 4 this afternoon. Yay!
-I rode the T to Copley Square yesterday and discovered some awesome boutiques. Just window shopping, for now. :) While there, I fortuitously discovered where the 1/2 price Boston arts/theater tickets are and decided that we will be going to Blue Man Group soon. Just because I can. For half price.
-I have changed the polish color on my toenails several times, even though I hate touching feet. I even painted my 6 nubbie fingernails one day last week! Then I remembered why I hate to have polish on my fingernails, because it always chips off in like 1.2 seconds.
-I discovered the show Prison Wives On Demand. The title says it all.

See? I do have things to fill my day! :)

LARPING

I first learned about "LARPING" several years ago on Wife Swap. (For the uninformed, LARPING = Live Action Role Playing). It is a totally hilarious practice and is already making me laugh just thinking about it. So naturally, I was hysterical when I saw on this week's episode of HUGE that the Fat Campers all loved larping! It just doesnt get better than that. Well, it does, actually. When the campers are discovered by a group of "cool" kids and then start chanting something like "Leave Us Alone! Leave Us Alone!" SOOO FUNNY.

And since I know you are all on the edge of your seats, Adriann on Secret Life didnt go through with the abortion. I was wondering if ABC Family was actually going to go through with that! But Amy doesnt know she is prego yet! What will she do when she finds out Ben is the Dad? And I clearly missed something because I didnt know Grace was in love with Ben?

So, obviously on Pretty Little Liars they want us to think that the weird dude with the blind step sister is A...but that is just too easy. I hope that maybe it ends up being a real ghost of A in the end. But I still want to know why, if this A is indeed their dead friend, she is mad at them and clearly hates them now.

So sad that last night was the last episode of The Hills E-V-E-R!!!! I seriously am sad, and was even teary eyed when I watched the After Show. They showed really old scenes from the first season of Laguna Beach, and it made me miss those days! And I miss Stephen! And where is Jason now? And why does no one seem to know ANYTHING about Heidi and Spencer? MTV has to know where they are, right? I mean, werent they in some sort of contract with the show? I am so confused. And are they really divorced? Brody dating Avril? Gross.

Have you watched the new season of Kathy Griffin's Life on the D List? It has been pure hilarity so far.

I did watch the fight to end all fights on RH-New Jersey. Danielle is a freaking psycho, but so Teresa for not being able to walk away. But what a drama queen Danielle was! I mean, she was in the car that would be able to take her away, yet she didnt leave. She just sat shaking in the back seat, and then when the police got there, she says "All I want to do is go home!" Well, why dont you go then??!!

Did any of you see the psycho teenager on Dr. Phil yesterday? She scared me.

OCD Issues

I have an issue with the OCD shows that are airing on both VH1 (The OCD Project) and A & E (Obsessed). I know I said I probably wouldnt watch because they make me feel a little crazy, but when has that ever stopped me? So, I have been watching, and seriously, they ask these people with OCD to do some crazy stuff that normal people wouldnt/shouldnt do (me being the standard of normal here)!
Example One: OCD patient has fear of getting a deadly disease from touching contaminated stuff. (Um, YEAH, that is a legit fear!) Anyway, so her doctor takes her to a port-a-potty and makes her go in. Whatev, we have all done it and dread it. So she is freaking a little bit. I dont have a problem with that part. However, THEN she proceeds to try and make her TOUCH THE TOILET SEAT OF THE PORT-A-POTTY! WHATTTT!?? No one in their right mind would do that, OCD or not (RIGHT!?)
Example Two: A lady is really crazy about cleaning stuff. She wants everything to be very clean and orderly (what is wrong with that?), especially her bedroom and sheets. SO, the doctor had her pee in a cup. Then he made her touch her own pee in the cup (really?? This isnt Fear Factor!). THEN, he tried to make her rub her pee-infested hand all over her pillows and sheets. And not immediately wash them. WHATTT??? No one wants to sleep on pee sheets!
I was disturbed by both examples, because if not wanting to touch the port-a-potty's toilet seat and not wanting to run pee all over my pillow make me OCD, then so be it.

I also watched the marathon of You're Cut Off yesterday on VH1. (Man, I hate not having good TV stored on my DVR!!!) I said it before, and I will say it again, dont watch. That having been said, you can get some good laughs. Like when one of the ladies says a task (cleaning the floor) is too "Mandoon" for her, meaning it was too mundane, but whatever, right? hahaha Funniest part is, she didnt even realize it was wrong.

Guess whose apartment building could be seen in a few of the shots of this week's Boston Med (the scenes where the helicopter is landing)? MINE! I am practically A-List now, no? How annoying is that ER nurse who wont stop smacking her gum all the time!!!!???? And, why doesnt she ever bring clothes to change in to after work if she knows she is going out? She really annoys me. And she needs to take the gum out of her mouth, because I am admittedly OCD about hearing people chew!

Breakthrough on HUGE! The biggest girl at camp isnt happy being fat even though she says she is! Wow. What a revelation. ( I feel like I am being a little snippy today?)

Do you think Padma hates it every time Bravo makes her say "Top Chef DC: Hail to the CHEF?" That is the lamest play on words and I am embarrassed for her every time she says it. I know Bravo writers could have thought of something a little more clever to say than that. "Hail to the Chef?" Come on!

So the next fight on Real Housewives of New Jersey (that I am still not technically watching, wink, wink)is tonight and it is going to be a good one (or so they make it seem). I am excited.

What else am I excited about? Finding out if Adrienne went through with the abortion on Secret Life!

Happy Belated, Nubbies!

Yesterday was my Nubbies 13th birthday. We celebrated by doing nothing productive all day. That doesnt mean I didnt do ANYTHING all day, just nothing productive, really. AJ and I decided (on our daily walk to drop him off at work) that next year we will have the Nubbies a real birthday bash, because next year is the year that the Nubbies will have been here exactly half of my whole life. Dont try and calculate that, people. I am still 22. As always.

We got to attend a screening of "Dinner for Schmucks" on Wednesday night. It was pretty hilarious. It wasnt really exactly what I expected, but it was good and totally worth be getting to the theater 1 1/2 hours ahead of time. I made friends with all of the other unemployed (?) people who had plenty of time to waste standing in line for a free movie. Jemaine (Jermaine with the R) from Flight of the Conchords was in it and did a fantastically hilarious job.

The U.S. just conducted a "spy swap" with Russia in an Austrian airport this morning. They announced it on the Today show like it wasnt a big deal at all. It was totally a big deal to me because I thought spies werent still a "thing" except for maybe in Alias (Man I miss that show!)!

Happy Weekend!

Recent Viewings

I think Kelly Cutrone is hilarious on The City. She is just so up front and completely doesnt care (although I do think some of it is as act...sometimes). Last night she cracked me up when she saw that Whitney and Roxy were fighting, and she said something like "OK, obviously something is going on, and I am not a therapist, and I dont really care....but I dont care how F$(%# upset you are, you had better look like you are having the F(#$&%@ time of your life." So hilarious. UM...and Olivia is like the biggest butt of all time. She will do whatever it takes to get people to NOT support Whitney's line!

Once again, another Hills episode minus Speidi. Where are they? What are they doing? I hope they arent getting paid for being no-shows in all of this season! Let's hope that this seasons culminates with a divorce for them. I cant wait to see the blow up she has again with her mom (that they have been advertising for weeks now but have yet to show).

OK, new show alert. Louie, Tuesday nights on FX. Has a sort of Its Always Sunny feel, but the star is actually the police guy from Parks and Rec. It is actually pretty funny. A little crude at times, but mostly funny.

Does anyone actually know what is going on on Pretty Little Liars? I feel like every episode I finish, I just ask myself if I am missing something because I have no idea why I am still watching. Nothing is really happening, correct? It is like now the mystery of A is sidelined a little? And the teacher with the teenage girl? Gross. Not just that, but she LOOKS like a tweener, so he is wrong for that.

Spoiler Alert: Adrienne went to have an abortion on this week's Secret Life. Will she really have it, I dont know. But why are all of these kids at their school getting pregnant? I smell a pregnancy pact, ladies! hahahha Oh, and Amy's little sister trying to make a move on Ricky? Yeah, right. And are we really supposed to think that maybe, just maybe, Adrienne might really marry Tom? Really??? That is what we are doing now?

Guess who is going to see Aziz Ansari next week????? ME! I am so excited!!!!

Happy BDay, America: Pops-Style

We loved experiencing our first 4th of July in Boston. There is so much to do and see and fortunately, it was 90+ degrees outside all weekend (and still is!). It just doesnt seem like 4th of July if it isnt crazy hot outside, does it?

Saturday night, we were able to hear the Boston Pops 4th of July preview concert (featuring Toby Keith, of all people)from the esplanade. I am not really into that music, but it was awesome to be there with all of those people!

*yes, those are portapotties in the second pic, and yes, I did use them more than once. Trust me, NOTHING is more frightening that using a portapotty in the dark. NOTHING!

Sunday, we headed out to hear the Pops again, this time from the Cambridge side of the river. They have huge speakers set up so you can hear it all. We had amazing seats for the fireworks after the concert. How did we get such awesome seats? Well, we followed the craziest 4th of July enthusiasts we could find and followed them, figuring they would know the good spots. And they sure did! I also now know where to find big, sparkly 4th of July hats and necklaces...

The Great Outdoors??

It is no surprise to anyone that I am not really a fan of outdoor activities. That doesnt mean that I dont LOVE to be outside in the sun all day long, every chance I get. I just dont really do activities that typical "outdoor people" like to do. To me, this entails the following: bike riding, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, camping, fishing, skiing, etc. I just dont like to do any of those things.
Mainly because I am a PASSIVE outdoor person (I did just make up that term and I really like it).

Definition of PASSIVE Outdoor People: persons who like to be outside, as long as they are not required to do anything but sit and bask in the sunshine.

Therefore, these are activities that I LOVE to do outside:
1) sitting on the Beach
2) attend Baseball games! (or other sporting events where I am merely a spectator)
3) Go on a boat ride or short dinner cruise
4) walk around and window shop (has to be a good temperature or walking can be a negative!)

Maybe that sounds lazy to you, but deal with it. I am who I am.

That being said, we spent AJs last day of summer outside doing what we love: sitting on the beach.

After a few hours on the beach, we headed home. It was such a nice day, we wanted to do something else outside to make the most out of AJs last day of vacay. Somehow, even though we had one not-so-great canoeing experience several years ago, we decided to go and rent a canoe and take it out on the Charles River. Why? I have no idea. But we did. (I made AJ promise that I wouldnt have to do any paddling unless I chose to, and he agreed. hahaha) So, we headed out...and scarily enough they let anyone rent canoes with little to NO instruction. End of story: I didnt really have to paddle (thank you AJ!), we didnt capsize, and I only freaked out a few times when I thought we were too far away from the sides (my thinking was that if we didnt get too far from the sides that if worse came to worse I could swim to safety). It was successful, and Passive Outdoor Activity approved (if you have someone willing to paddle for you).

And now AJ is officially working at MGH, and I am officially THINKING about starting my job hunt. :)

AJ on his first day:
