TV and Such

I was so happy that Million Dollar Listing came back for another season on Bravo, but, no MDL without Chad? That is barely a show? I love to HATE him and his hairspray! The new guy just isn’t the same.

Intervention this week featured another (that makes 2!) new interventionist named Rod. He was sort of scary, and really takes a “tough love” approach to the intervention. At one point, he had the family just get in their cars and literally leave, and then he left. It worked, though!

Heavy on A & E just really leads me to believe that all obese people must live in Texas (everything’s bigger, right?!) because I figured out that this show is solely based out of Dallas. One thing bothers me, though, about how they are treating these patients. Not the show, but so far in only like 3 episodes, 2 people have lost weight and immediately decided (and been approved for) excess skin removal surgery! Now, I just don’t think that is a good thing to have the surgery while they are STILL continuing to lose weight, right? Why not wait to get it ALL removed at the end of your weight loss journey?

A friend and I figured out that we share a mutual love for many shows, so we have deicded a weekly view party of Gossip Girl and 90210. Our last weeks were spent chatting via GCHAT because of snow storms, so this week we finally got together for an in house viewing together. Good thing, too, because Teddy FINALLY came out of the closet on 90, the girl surfer is now addicted to marijuana, Naomi got scammed (you could see that coming from a mile away), and on Gossip Girl S proves to be (once again) the reason why any and all drama happens surrounding her family. And lastly, AJ informed me that he would divorce me if I ever cut my hair like Silvers. Done. Information overload.

My Life as Liz is back too! Definitely not as good with Liz being in New York, though. She is still totally lovable though. I love her fake red hair though! One day…

Oh, Teen Moms… where do I even begin? Janelle’s homeless boyfriend? Yuck. And now Janelle is out on the streets too because she opted to sleep on the floor of her friends gross apartment instead of waking up to take care of her son. I do think her mother is really annoying, and actually I think her mom has let the TV stuff go to her head a little bit too much (just by the way she is acting all dramatic about everything), but Janelle is a dead beat mom. She is right about that. And the curly headed girl just will never be happy. She resents her husband for leaving her at home all day with the twins, and that just wont end well. I cant believe Aubree’s (is that her name?) boyfriend moving back in and expecting to not pay a dime. But the dad totally didn’t stand his ground! I would have kicked them BOTH out of the house!

The Middle
really is a hilarious show. I sort of feel lame for watching it, but it is funny stuff (and it comes on right before Modern Family so just set your DVR 30 minutes earlier!).

Despite the fact that I watched all of that this week, it was a super busy week. So I forced myself to stay up later every night (only TV can persuade me to stay up any later than I want to!). And tomorrow is the hubs birthday! I don’t think he realizes that the Justin Bieber movie is on my agenda for his birthday plans…

Monday Again

It has been almost a week since I blogged last, so here is a quick recap of last week:
Intervention: cant remember. But I watched, and they went to rehab. I do remember that.
Kourtney and Kim take NYC- To love Scott, or not to love Scott? I still do not love Scott, but I do think it was nice of him to stand up for Kim, even though he dresses like a douche.
Pretty Little Liars - teacher with the student who doesnt even look 14? Gross and weird.
90210 - Geez, everyone gang up on Adriana in the sweat lounge while Naomi sits provocatively (and looks awkward).
Gossip Girl - Ben is totally obsessed with Serena's family. But why? He just needs to leave! And B and Lonely Boy? It is growing on me...
Biggest Loser - So glad the other twin with the mustache went home. Neither of them wanted to be there in the first place. I was glad to see that they did continue to lose weight at home.
Heavy - loving the trainer. I told AJ that the boy trainer looked like a transformer from the back. Seriously, he has major muscles.
Teen Mom 2 - I cant even describe how I feel towards Janelle and her skanky hickeys (seriously, hickeys?). Aubrey getting back with her boyfriend (who is totally just wanting to free-load off of her and her dad). Remember Aubrey, this was the same guy who called your daughter a mistake and called you a fat, stretch-mark, B. You can do better.
One Born Every Minute (new show on Lifetime) - The show basically just follows a few ladies who are about to and then give birth in a busy hospital. Lesson learned: my birth plan (IF I ever have the chance to make one!) is this - Get the baby out of me (preferably by Csection) as soon as possible and with as many drugs as possible.
Community - not liking the whole D and D episode.
Outsourced - although this was probably one of the most funny episodes, I really just want this show to go away. AJ insists we keep watching in case it gets funnier. I doubt.
The Office - Holly and Michael on the roof. That is all.
30 Rock - Kenneth's face when Cable Town Exec suggested that Jack hug Kenneth-- priceless.

Baby shower, engagement party, and The Fighter made for a busy weekend. The Fighter (one of the two R rated movies we will watch this year; ask me why only 2 and I will tell you our awesome agreement) was well worth it. GO SEE IT. Seriously, you will thank me later.

And now for another week.

We Bring It (and not in a good way)

“This is a serious situation and we need the public’s cooperation to keep South Dakotans, emergency workers, and travelers safe for the next 24 hours,” Gov. Mike Rounds said in a midday statement. “Right now the severe weather is making our response and recovery efforts very difficult. As the weather clears, we’ll have more resources ready to clear the roads and help with the power concerns.”
Winds up to 66 miles per hour were blowing snow around.

Now, it should come to no surprise that this storm was hitting South Dakota in a huge way. The problem? This was in May. Not November, not December, or January, or February… MAY. 2008, I believe. Our last summer in South Dakota. And it snowed in May. Awesome.

Moving on to our next state, Delaware. The one winter we lived there (last year) they coined the phrase 'Snowmageddon' referring to what President Obama said was the biggest snowstorm in nearly 90 years and was the 2nd, 3rd and even 4th significant winter storm for some parts of the Mid Atlantic states this winter season.
Delaware set the all-time record for the heaviest snowfall in the state's history with 26.5 inches of snowfall in Wilmington. More awesomeness for us.

Then we arrive to this winter. New state (again). And what do the headlines read today?

Boston Local News Update: Snowpocalypse 2011
Since Dec. 1, Boston has received 60.3 inches of snow, which is 40.2 inches above normal, according to the weather service.

Conclusion? If you want good weather, you’d better pray we don’t move to your state! Bad weather follows us. On vacations, on work days, on weekends, wherever. Doesn’t matter. We bring it. Your welcome, Boston. XOXO

How About....Cupcakes!?

My favorite video from an episode of America's Funniest Videos on Sunday night (one of my all time favorite shows):
The last time she does it is the best. So cute!

Sunday Again

I havent posted all week. Not really sure why. I watched a lot (naturally) but remember nothing (naturally), except the fact that I am SO loving that Rob Lowe is a season regular now on Parks and Rec! AND Community has been more funny since coming back after the break...

I also was gifted ANOTHER snow day! I am really hoping for another one this week--is that asking for too much now? Seriously, snow days mid-week really make me a happier person.

Anyone seen The Rite yet? I dont think I am going to be able to keep myself from going much longer!

Sunday

Bears or Packers? Bears.
Steelers or Jets? Jets.
This is what we are doing tonight.

I finally watched the movie Catfish this weekend. You probably dont remember the preview (it came out mid-2010) but I totally wanted to see it because the preview made it look like a scary thriller movie. Then, I heard from a few different people that it was NOT a scary movie at all. I was intrigued still, but never went to see it--and it sort of fell of my radar. I never wikipedia'd the ending either (which I do all of the time for movies that I want to see even before I see them so I know what happens before I go in). I had read an article that said no matter what if you ever thought you might see the movie to NOT read what happens. So I didnt. I am SO glad I didnt read about it before we watched!! It was a good surprise of a movie that keeps you interested. Spoiler (sort of): it is a documentary. A REAL reality show. Worth watching. It is on demand, but you have to find it under movie genres, indie films, or something like that.

I watched the entire episode of I Used to Be Fat with the Mormon girl. Her Dad was sort of a jerk, right? I mean, he was so superficial and told his daughter that boys are attracted to a nice body and that she needed to lose weight if she ever expected to get married. But, um, Dad...she is only 18! She literally had graduated high school a week before the show! Give her some time! At least until 20, the prime age for marriage (wink, wink--that is how old I was when I got married!).

In addition to shows about obese people, I love prison shows (that shouldnt be surprising to you) so naturally I am loving the Beyond Scared Straight show. So far, my favorite piece of wisdom bestowed on the kids by prisoners is this:
"The Golden Rule of Prison: You didnt see what you saw, and you didnt hear what you heard."
This week there was a 13 year old kid--he was seriously so little--who cried when the prisoners yelled at him. He was so sad!

A few weeks ago we went to Chick Fil A at the mall a few miles outside of town (so worth it that we have to go at least once a month). This mall is particularly BUSY--like NO SPOTS available in the several parking lots. We stalked some people who were leaving, and patiently waited for them to get in their car and pull out. We are getting ready to pull in as soon as they are out, until a lady in a light blue lexus SUV (you know who you are) zoomed in to the spot we had been waiting for (and she CLEARLY had seen us waiting there and had made eye contact with us while we were waiting). We were like "no way, lady!" We pulled up behind her, and said, "Um,.. we know you saw us waiting there for this spot. We had been waiting for like 5 minutes." She plays dumb and says that she has a hair appointment and has to go inside. I say "Yeah, you probably should get something done about that hair!" and we find another spot. We then walk over to her salty, dusty car and write in the back windshield: " I steal things." It felt good.
***Some facts in this story may or may not be true. Decide for yourself. I will never tell.

Friday, Snow Day (again)

I think probably one of the greatest perks of living in Boston is that people arent very "weather-tough" here. School has been cancelled for 3 days in the last 2 weeks, and none of these days would have even been a snow day for schools in South Dakota (well, maybe that one day would have been, but I dont know). Also, the temperatures here haven't been below zero. Actually, I am not even sure that we have even seen single digits! Look at how living in the Upper Midwest has made me so TOUGH! Granted, I do not like winter/snow/cold temps at all whatsoever--no matter where they take place. But, Boston winters are nothing compared to SD winters! However, I am thankful that people here dont just try to keep on with daily life when it snows, because then I dont have to go to work! So, dont change Bostonians!

I have also come to the conclusion this week that Mormons are fat. We must be more fat than other groups in the nation. How did I decide this? I am only basing this on the fact that on nearly every (maybe even EVERY) season of The Biggest Loser, there is an LDS person. At least one! And, now on the new MTV Show, I Used to Be Fat, there was an LDS girl. Coincedence? I think not. We are fat! And/or we apply to be on a lot of TV shows.

Speaking of obese shows, the big reveal of the trainers happened on Biggest Loser this week. Totally anticlimatic. I wanted the girl trainer to be Laila Ali, but it wasnt. Some no names.

OOH! And new show Heavy on A & E started, but it really didnt seem as good of a show as all the other obesity shows I watch (and love). The reason it isnt as good is because these people are only followed for 6 months, therefore, barely getting close to losing 100 lbs--and they have a lot to lose! I just needed a follow-up at the end of the show to let me know how these people are doing NOW, like they do in Intervention.

Totally unrelated observation: I have been eating the Lean Cuisine panini sandwiches for years now. They are actually pretty good and perfect to take to work. I noticed today when I made one for lunch (I was off from work and didnt even go OUT for lunch! Go me!) that the little round paper plate piece that you microwave your sandwich on says "patent pending." I could care less about this patent, except for the fact that as long as I have been eating these sandwiches (years!) this little plate has always said "patent pending." Poor person who is trying to get this patented! Isnt that taking a really long time? Is it ever going to happen?

These are the types of things that worry my mind. Patents on my lean cuisine sandwich plate. Most especially, the poor guy whose life dream is to have this patent approved! I hope it ends up happening for you, dude. I really do.

Tuesday

Thank you, my wonderful husband who understands and allows (and encourages?) my obsession with TV for hearing a commercial for a show on the BIO network, and seeking it out to DVR it for me. He said it was SO me (not in those exact words--he doesnt talk like that). Anyway, the show is called "I Survived...the Beyond and Back." He was right--it is SO ME! The after death experiences, murderers, and other dangerous situations that I will now forever be paranoid over-- a true A plus!

It stemmed off of a show called "I Survived..." which I have seen before, and also recommend. Basically, you fill in the sentence " I survived..." with things like "rape, attack, robbery, tornado, snake bite, etc." Awesome. People tell their stories, and they are truly amazing.

But, "I Survived, Beyond and Back" is even better. Real life after death experiences, and the people who lived to tell about the beyond. It's as good as Sylvia Brown on Montel!

Did you get to watch "Beyond Scared Straight?" It was pretty hilarious. First of all, I feel like they need to separate the girls from each other so they dont feel 'protected' from the group. But, really, murderers yelling in your face for 5 hours has to hurt. Actually a few of the girls changed, and sadly, some did not. The bad thing about the show is that we know the prisoners cant touch or hurt the people in the scared straight program...itd be awesome if they could. THAT would be super scary.

Confession: I watched Knight and Day (Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz). As ditzy as Camerson was, I actually LIKED this movie! I mean, I had absolutely NO expectation, which is probably why I enjoyed it. T.C. was pretty funny and likable! Plus, it was taped in Boston (all the good ones are--hahaha). Now that I told you that it was good, if you go and rent it, it wont be good because I already gave you expectations for it. So just take my word, and never watch it.

Pretty Little Liars: so the sister's boyfriend is the killer of Ali?? Why did he have that tape on his computer, anyway?

Jersey Shore: Love to hate Sammy. She is the worst, and we all agree. I like the new girl too. She has all the sayings, like "I was a walking party last night!" Why do they even make them work at that place anymore? The situation doesnt even do anything but show up!

Golden Globes-- Of course I watched. I wish everyone would GET OVER GLEE! How did I miss that Kate Hudson is preggers? Love Marky Mark! Want to start watching Boardwalk Empire! Justin Bieber! Zac Efron! The best!

Snow Day #2

We got a lot of snow (it really wasnt THAT bad) so I got out of work for not just ONE but TWO days! This would have NEVER happened in SD!

First up, my ondemand purchase for snow day: The Back-Up Plan with J. Lo. And, even though I really didnt have high expectations anyway, it wasnt THAT great. Not as good as that one movie where she was with Matthew McConaughey (what's the name of that? I liked it I think!). The previews basically tell you everything that happens in the movie, no surprises there.

Next, I rented Inception, because I had not seen it yet. I sort of didnt want to see it because everyone thinks it is so intellectual (and that by saying they like the movie it somehow makes them more intellectual???). But, I like Leo, so I knew eventually I had to see it. It was good, sort of confusing, but not so "OMG it BLEW MY MIND!" like people were saying when it first came out. I still think it would have been a better, twist of an ending, if his wife (with the worst name ever-- Maul?) would have been RIGHT and he WAS living his life in a dream and not in the real world. Take that!

Moving on to some TV:

Teen Mom 2. Janelle, aka, the new Teen Mom domestic violence case. Janelle is so rude and she should go to jail just like Amber did. What is the most funny about Janelle, is that she yells at her Mom saying that she "is a good mom" because she "makes sure I see my child every day!". Well, get out the Mother of the Year award! Janelle makes SURE she sees her kid every day! What a woman! The next funny thing, is that after the fight, Janelle says she is "done!" (because she wants her mom to stop taking care of her kid) and that she is "leaving!"---and then walks out the door WITHOUT the baby. Something is missing here.

Millionaire Matchmaker this week was a good season NYC ender. I really liked the old football player guy...but, really, how rude of that girl to google him and then ask him about his child support! I liked her and I think they could have been good together had she not been so rude! And does that old lady look just like Danielle Staub from RHNJ or what?

Did you get to watch Daniel Tosh's stand up special on Comedy Central? HILARIOUS! My favorite line (badly paraphrased): " I am for women getting plastic surgery. Because it is one of the rare circumstances where women can make their outward appearance match their inner appearance: FAKE." hahahaha LOVE TOSH!

SOME NEW SHOWS AND SHOWS COMING BACK THAT I AM SOOO EXCITED FOR:

(old show coming back for season 2) My Life as Liz on MTV! Love Liz! And now she is in NYC!

(new show! new show! new show!) Beyond Scared Straight on A & E. You heard right. Think Maury Povich's Scared Straight program, but in a whole reality show. Basically, thug kids get to go to real jail and mingle with real killers and gangsters. And then, they get Scared Straight. Awesome.

Mobster Sunday

Please tell me that we arent the only family who watches lots of episodes of the show Mobsters on Bio?! We love that show! So many gangsters committing crimes all over the country! Real life Sopranos. Love it.

So we all know Jersey Shore started back again...and the family is back to Seaside Heights (where the belong!). I really dont like Sammi, and I think everyone agrees with me. Seriously, I cant wait until she leaves (later this season, they showed it in the previews). But, in the opening credits, why does it still say "Sammi, Sweetheart"--like it says "Nicole, Snooki" and "Jenni JWow"? NO ONE has ever or WILL ever call Sammi sweetheart! She wishes!

Jim Carrey was hilarious on SNL last night. The psychic skit was hilarious, but I really like this "Self Empowerment by Healthy Confrontation" skit. Why do I like it? Because I am totally the same way. I am all talk, and no action. Enjoy.

True or False

My Craiglist Killer Watch Party was a HIT. Of course, only the most dedicated Lifetime Original Movie watchers were in attendance. Holler!

However, it left us with some lingering questions as to what was true, what was false, and what was left out completely. And then we wondered why Lifetime hasnt made a "Laci and Scott Peterson" movie (or have they and I missed out?)?

-First of all, did the Craigslist Killer do it with all of the 16 ladies who he took their panties?
-Did they find those ladies later and talk to them? Well, we know they did because after the movie they played a Beyond the Headlines Craiglist Killer that we missed---but dont worry. If you missed it too, it replays Saturday night!
-But did he attack each of those 16 ladies, or just sleep with them? Or just literally got a massage?
-Did Lifetime just add in the statement that he supposedly posted online about being interested in trannies?
-why was it so weird between him and his mom at the engagement party?
-why did Lifetime choose the mean girl from Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion to play the mom? hahaha!
-Where was the Craiglist Killer's AMAZING Boston apartment? I want to live there if students could afford it!
-Did his med student friend ever tell police that he attacked her like that?
- SO MANY MORE QUESTIONS!

I Used to Be Fat started last week. I watched the first episode while I was in Utah. It was good! The girl seemed like such a nice girl. I posted my status on facebook while I was watching it "I Used to be Fat" and one of my friends (a newer friend) saw me the other day, and asked what I meant by that...because she noticed that my sister commented on that post and said "I liked that girl." So my friend thought that I seriously used to be fat (I didnt) and that my sister was sort of rude for saying she liked my OLD FAT self (she isnt). HAHAHAHA That made me laugh. Actually the real reason she wanted to know if I DID used to be fat was because she wondered what amazing diet plan I had been on to be skinny now! Love her!

Why did How I Met Your Mother try and end all serious this episode? Dont do that. You are a funny show, not a drama show.

OMG Intervention's new season has had 2 new episodes...and a NEW Interventionalist! What?! They cant do that to us! I already lost Ken Seeley (and I really am afraid he maybe had a relapse!) but now they threw in a new OLD guy! Not sure about him yet.

I learned from MTV's True Life: I Have a Fetish that there is such thing as being a professional dominatrix. Now you know, too. Do what you will with that knowledge I just threw at you! Is that even how you spell dominatrix??
