If you liked MTV's reality series "Fat Camp" and even "Return to Fat Camp" (as I did, of course), then you will more than likely be interested in tuning in to ABC Family's (am I the only mid-20 year old who watches that channel religiously?) new hit show HUGE. It is basically a fiction version of Fat Camp, and it is awesome. The "pretty" girl, played by David Hasselhoff's daughter who creepily looks just like him, the sneaking fat food, the boy drama, it is all there. Beware because you have to be willing to overlook Nikki Blonsky's annoying self. I cant stand her. But because she is the "mean" girl, and everyone hates her at camp, I can get on board with that. Worth the summer tv watch.
And, yes, there was a pun intended in the title of this post. I am so clever.
Let's move on to a more pressing issue: KFCs Double Down. If you havent seen the commercials, you may not know that the Double Down is a KFC fried chicken sandwich wherein the chicken acts as the bun, and there is bacon and a sauce in the middle.
You must know, I am here to defend this concoction!!!!
I saw the commercial, and, yes, it gets a lot of flack. It seems like a heart attack waiting to happen because for some reason, the fact that there is no bun and only fried chicken sicks people out.
HOWEVER, the main reason I am a fan (although I myself have not eaten one of these sandwiches, but I WOULD)is one simple reason: I have ordered that exact same dish at a restaurant---a legit, non-fast food restaurant! It wasnt called the Double Down, but it was served, and it was good, and no one thinks anything of it since it is on a nice plate and served at a nice restaurant.
Now I will tell you the story of how AJ got a free Double Down:
He played golf in the heat all day. He was hungry, but just wanted something small (didnt want to ruin his wonderful home-cooked dinner I had made him. HAHAHA). He passed a KFC and, although he wanted something small, the poster of the Double Down called to him. He had to stop. He went to the drive thru. He ordered, and waited. And waited more. He was pissed. There was no turning around though because it was one of those drive thrus where the curb is right there and you cant turn around, even if you regret your order! He was stuck, and had to wait for 25 minutes in his car in the drive thru!!!!! He finally got to the window, and the guy asked for his money.
Then, AJ thought to himself, "WWLD" (meaning, What Would Lyndsay Do?)? He knew there is no freaking way I would have waited that long and didnt come away with SOMETHING FREE. No way! They are serving ME! So, on that note, he said "You arent REALLY making me pay for that after I waited 25 minutes in your drive thru, are you?" The dude sort of gave him a look, saw that AJ was serious (of course!) and went to get his manager, who proceded to not only give AJ the Double Down FREE, but upgraded it to a meal with fries and a Diet Coke.
He said the Double Down was delish.

Beach, Beach, Free Movie, Beach
That pretty much explains what we have been doing lately. AJ starts work Thursday, so we are making the most of our time before he starts.
Did I mention that he works at one of the two hospitals where the new show BostonMed is taped? Because he does, and it is awesome. If you didnt catch the show, it is on ABC on Thursday nights and it is worth it.
We went to a free movie at Boston Harbor Hotel Friday night. AJ, believe it or not, had never seen The Wizard of Oz...and yes, he has seen Wicked. So weird. Anyway, so Friday night that was the movie playing at the hotel on a big screen over the water (amazing location!), so we headed out. Only problem: if you arent eating at the bar/grill restaurant there, you have to watch the movie from the reserved area on the steps. Translation: it is crowded and your butt hurts really bad. It was fun though. Here is the best pic I had from my phone's camera. You really cant tell the water is in the background.
After our beach time today, we went to the movie theater to see Grownups. Yes, I totally got sucked in by their advertisement overload. And, seeing the previews for a few movies coming out later this summer got me really happy. Namely, Dinner for Schmucks is a definite must see coming out in just a few weeks now. I CANNOT WAIT!
Anyway, Grownups was good. Funny, had like a few slow spots, but nothing major. Overall a funny, easy flick. Oh, and remember Jamie from The Real World San Diego (my favorite season ever!)? Because she was in the movie. Basically eye candy, but she was there.
In case you dont remember her, here she is:
BTW, Real World New Orleans starts this week too!

Overloaded
There is a lot to discuss, so I am just going to dive right in:
Bridal Bootcamp on VH1. Sort of like a spin-off of Biggest Loser, but with desperate to lose weight for the wedding brides. Surprisingly good to watch, but none of the girls are even that heavy--just a few college lbs to get off before they have the wedding.
You're Cut Off, also another VH1 original, but they really missed the mark on this reality show. It is basically girls who are either gold diggers who have had everything given to them by rich old boyfriends, or rich daddy's girls. Either way, most of them look like men just dressed up as women. Plus, from what I have seen, no one gets eliminated each week and they dont seem to be working towards anything.
Obsessed, a new(er) show on A & E that comes on after Intervention (SIDE NOTE: new Intervention episodes start Monday!), is a show I have mixed feelings about. Basically follows people with OCD. My only beef with the show, which is why I probably wont continue to watch, is because the more I watch the show, the more I realize that maybe I am crazy and obsessed! I just dont want to learn MORE OCD habits from these people and slowly incorporate them into my own life! It scares me! Does anyone else feel that way? Wow. After re-reading that paragraph, I think I AM indeed a little off.
Bethenny Getting Married, yes I have been watching and just sort of interested. Why did Bethenny's jaw get amazingly HUGE when she got pregnant? I mean, jaws are such a weird place to gain weight?! I also caught parts of the 3 freaking part Real Housewives of NYC reunion, and am still confused about Kelly and her craziness. It just seems like it would be the most frustrating thing to try and make sense to her while she just makes up crazy things and tries to act like YOU are the crazy one!
Since summer TV, as we all know, is seriously lackluster, I tried to watch Last Comic Standing (I LOVE watching comediens, so I thought, why not?). The first episodes was just so-so...and I feel like they only show the people that they choose to go on to the next round so we dont see the bad people. However, the second episode--or maybe it was the 3rd, whatever the most recent was--stepped it up a little and had me laughing. The male judge with the glasses annoys the crap out of me, but I love the girl judge. Here is a funny part of her comedy show about Toilet Babies...because everyone loves I Didnt Know I Was Pregnant!
Moving on, another new show that I am disappointed in myself for starting is Persons Unknown. You know I love the scary stuff, and the preview totally sucked me in!!! Plus, it was On Demand when I was bored one night, so I watched. IT IS LAME! DO NOT WATCH! Seriously, watch that Comcast Dating on Demand channel before watching this show. The acting is terrible, and poor Cameron from Ferris Bueller is in it and he is BAD. Poor Cameron.
I am just now watching The City from this week, but I saw Audrina from The Hills on Regis and Kelly last week and she gave some insight on the editing that I was aware of, but in denial about... Remember 2 weeks ago in the episode where Audrina was maybe going to break up with Ryan Cabrera (he is so desperate it is sad!) and she showed up to the concert and started crying for no reason while he was singing love songs??? Weird and confusing, right? Well, on Regis and K, Audrina said that she had already broken up with Ryan at that point like 4 days previously, but they made her go to that concert and it was weird and lame and she felt bad and just started crying over the breakup---that had ALREADY HAPPENED! I hate that editing! And where have Heidi and Spencer been the last 2 eps of The Hills??? I passed a Crystal Shoppe in Beacon Hill the other day and had to really talk myself out of going in to buy a crystal to see what they are all about!!!

" I'm Hot, and You're Not"
If you watched Teen Witch in the 80s, or rewatched it this weekend when ABC Family showed it on TV, then you know what I am talking about. LOVE THIS MOVIE! I forgot how good it was, and how many of the lines of the movie that my sister and I used/continue to use in our lives (like the song slash rap "I'm Hot, and you're NOT, so if you wanna hang with me you only got one shot, TOP THAT!")
Something I didnt know until I rewatched it with AJ this weekend was that BRAD (love interest of Teen Witch Louise) is the same guy from Saved by the Bell Hawaii who wanted to run Kelly's uncle out of his resort business!!!! NOOOO Louise! Brad is a bad dude! Also, Louise is one of the girls in Goonies, and the short psychic lady from Poltergeist is also in the flick, playing none other than a psychic/witch. Awesome.
Wikipedia also informed me that Teen Witch was initially supposed to be a girl version or Teen Wolf. Um, NO. As much as I love Teen Witch, Teen Wolf starring APK is so much better. (APK being Alex P. Keaton, also known as Michael J. Fox).
Sticking on ABC Family shows, yes, I am watching Pretty Little Liars. But I have no idea what is going on in the show...the blind girl? Where did she come from? Is A really dead? Oh, the suspense!

Dating on Demand
Stop what you are doing right now and go to your TV, click the "on demand" button, and see if you have "Dating on Demand" under "Local". Seriously. I just discovered this channel, if that is what you call it. It is basically short 3-4 minute videos of single people answering questions about themselves. And it is entertaining. It seems like the comcast people just stopped people who were out at bars or other functions and asked them questions about their personalities for their "on demand" profiles. Hilarious. One girl was still in high school. Granted, she was 18, but still...did her mom know she was making a profile for "On Demand?"
Did anyone else already know about this Dating on Demand?
On another note, reason #7,002 for loving Boston: Beaches. Now, I know you dont think, "Hey, I want to go to Boston to go to the beach!" But, really, why DONT you think that? We drove not even15 minutes away from our house and found 3 different nice, sunny beaches (with bathrooms). And that was just the ones right near our house!
On the way home, we drove by a car on a bridge that was on fire, too. Like, majorly on fire. It was cool until a fireman was trying to put out the fire and it sort of blew INTO his face and he had to run the other way.

Official
We are now official residents of Massachusetts. We got our car registered here, AJ got his license changed (I opted not to change mine at this time to avoid the $100 fee associated with getting the new license, plus mine is good for 4 more years anyway), and we are all moved in to our new city apartment. I say city because it is crazy how little closet space you can have in city apartments while still paying double what you are used to paying in rent. We are in, albeit STUFFED in to our closet space. We do LOVE our new apartment though!
And, of course I got my cable with DVR hooked up within hours of moving in...I have my priorities, people!
Little confession: I am totally back into Secret Life of the American Teenager. Am I the only one? It was on marathon while we were unpacking and I have watched a few newer episodes. It is stupid as ever, which makes it better than ever, right? In case you are interested, there have been multiple pregnancy scares now.
Breaking Bad season finale on Sunday night was crazy!!!! I was unsure this whole season about they were going to keep it fresh, and they really stepped it up the last few episodes. I mean, Walt running over the drug guys? And did whats his face kill the new guy working in the lab??? Such a good season ending cliffhanger!
Dad Camp on VH1 showcases the biggest losers you can imagine being Dads to unfortunate little ones. The ladies are sad and desperate though, because nothing this camp can teach is going to make these guys NOT be losers. They need to move on to Tool Academy.
Are Heidi and Spencer really getting divorced? That story sort of fell off after initially being released. Or maybe I have just been out of it the last few days...
I did watch an episode of the new Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford show The Good Guys. It is another cop comedy, very much like Psych, but without the psychic. It is funny, but not a "cant miss it" show. But what do you expect from summer tv??
TOP CHEF DC starts TOMORROW!!!

OID: Only in Delaware
Ever wondered what Delaware is all about? Probably NOT, but over our last year here, we have observed some things that are seemingly native to Delaware.
1) Unnecessary Medians on the Road: Seriously, Delaware LOVES using medians. They use them EVERYWHERE. A parking lot? Must need a median somewhere! In the middle of an intersection? Needs a median! Middle of the park? Perhaps a median will be good there! By putting medians everywhere, that also means that you have to do more u-turns here than anywhere else in the world. Because nothing says "go 1 mile out of your way to get to the next intersection in order to u-turn" like a Delaware median!
2) Parking backwards in your parking spot. Delawarians LOVE to take the 2 extra minutes it takes to park in reverse in their spots. Everyone does it. It annoys me.
3) "In Loving Memory" stickers on your back windshield. I wish I had a study to show the proportion of people in Delaware that use these stickers on their windows compared to other areas. Granted, it is very sweet and touching to memorialize a loved one, BUT is a bumper/window sticker really the best way to do it? At any given moment, you can find one either in the parking lot outside, or driving next to you.
(I got a picture of this, but couldnt crop out the name of the person being remembered, and I didnt want to put that out there with a name on it!)
4) OBX/BB/RB/26.2 Stickers on your car. They must love car stickers of all sorts here, because you cant go far in Delaware without seeing some loser with an OBX sticker on their car. Oh, you dont know what those letters mean? The Outer Banks in North Carolina, of course! Duh. And apparently that is the coolest place ever because when you go, you always come back with this stupid sticker on your windshield. (BB= Bethany Beach, RB= Rehobeth Beach, 26.2= d-bag who wants everyone to know they ran a marathon...this one isnt just a DE thing)
5) Putting up your windshield wipers when it is going to snow. I still dont quite see the benefit of doing this, but EVERYONE here does it if there is even a slight chance of snow. This is a pic from earlier this year, and I am sure if you look hard enough you will see some windshield wipers pulled up and out!
6) Bean Bag games anywhere you can imagine (locals call it "baggy" or something like that). Whether it is in the park, in the middle of a street, in the middle of the parking lot, or at a tailgating party before the big game, someone inevitably will break out their homemade backboard and bean bags to play a quick game.
7a) Broken Down Cars on the Road (always marked as such by a white wife-beater shirt in the window). Supposedly, your car has to pass inspection before getting registered in Delaware. Funny, because there are more broken down cars on the side of the road here than anywhere else I have lived. And, I dont know how people automatically know that you need to put the white shirt in the window, but, they always do it. Once I saw a red shirt and wondered if that meant something different than the white one.
7b) Trash on the side of the Road. Littering is a problem here. Trash on the road, along with broken down cars= a sad fact.
8) (possibly the most annoying) Parking in the Front of Stores (aka in the fire lane). There can be a completely empty parking lot (as seen in photo), and yet people still find it necessary to park in front of the shopping center, with or without their hazards on, so everyone has to go around them. Just pull into a parking spot 3 feet away!!!! Just because you put your hazards on doesnt mean its ok to park there!
9) This doesnt annoy me, but has actually given me many laughs as I drive by. What is Analtech? What does Analtech do?
***I decided to try and find pictures to show as examples of each annoyance. I thought it would take a few hours. It took me 30 minutes to find all of these.

TV Stuff
So, of course I watched the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night, hosted by my fave Aziz Ansari! (again, if you havent seen Aziz's Comedy Central Special you HAVE to see it...hilarity!!!)
A few thoughts about this:
I renewed my abhorrence to Twi-hard fans and the Twilight saga. OMG...does Kristin Stewart have any personality?? She thinks she is way too cool for school, per usual. I actually thought that Edward was a little MORE outgoing than usual, but still unbearable.
I also found a new love: Zac Efron. Who knew, right? I didnt see it coming, but he looked SO good at the awards, didnt he? I wasnt even into him before, and now I am totally wanting to go rent 17 Again again.
Betty White/Sandra Bullock/Scarlet Johannsen--that was planned to be awkward, right?
Kristin is really a mean girl on The Hills! And where were Spencer and Heidi this whole episode? I want to see more on their supposed divorce drama!!!! I dont know if I believe it yet, but if it is true, I want Heidi to write a tell-all book about being brainwashed by Spencer...and I will be first in line to get it!
I love that Elle is going to hire the new girl, Louise, to take Olivia's place! Please tell me Olivia is no longer on the show anymore? I cant take her stuck-up act anymore!
Losing it with Jillian: are you watching? Of course I am, and it annoys me that Jillian tries to be Ms Counselor to everyone...but it is good in place of Biggest Loser.
Top Chef DC starts soon..next week, right?
I had better make sure my cable is set to be installed ASAP in my new place! We move Friday! GO CELTICS!

Tribute to TC
TC has been with us a very long time. AJs parents purchased TC brand spanking new in 1994, and then graciously sold it to AJ for $3000 in 2001. What a deal, because that car has lasted like no other...and is still going strong!
TC got her name from her make and model, nothing fancy...Toyota Camry= TC.
I would like to list a few facts about TC in her memory:
-TC has 206,000 miles
-After we got married, we decided that we would just expect TC to last AJs first 2 years of medical school, and if it got us that far, itd be awesome...she lasted many more years and trips across the country.
-TC made her big screen debut a few years back in Provo while they were taping the new LDS version of "Pride and Prejudice." When they are in the park on Center Street in Provo, TC drives by in the background. It is awesome. (AJ and I were in the car too)
-TC has driven through nearly all of the United States, and driven through most (if not all) of the major cities here. After talking it over, we realized the only states she hasnt been to are: Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Mississippi. And, really, what are you missing by NOT travelling to those states?
-TC hit and killed a deer once, but came out with only minor headlight damage.
-TC has been taped on many (3, to be exact) stoplight cameras, and the photo (with accompanying ticket with AJs name on it) have been mailed to us. TC is very photogenic.
-TC is a survivor. Most recently, she sat all night in downtown Washington, DC with her window down and resisted ANY break in or theft!!!! A miracle!
So, last night we sold TC (for a VERY great deal, BTW) to a lady who doesnt even know how to drive a stick shift! Her husband barely knew, but he vowed to learn and then teach her. We really hope she is OK and will be as good of a car to them as she was to us!
We miss you, TC!

7 Days!
We are going to pull out of our apartment in Delaware for the last time in exactly one week from today. I cannot believe it has been a year here already, that over a year ago we were still in shock that AJ matched at The Mass General Hospital, and that we moved across the country. And here we go again! Love it!
And, as you can see from the pics I posted a few days ago, we had a wonderful visit with Natalie. We were able to take her all up and down the East Coast...from Baltimore to NYC. And everywhere in between. We saw The Real World: Back to NY House, the Friends apartment, The Cosby Show condo, and Zarin Fabrics (Jill from Real Housewives of NYC!!) among all of the other things. We walked miles and miles, and rode the Grayline Bus more miles. It was awesome. Perfect birthday!
Now, my house is even more full of boxes. Some are packed, some are empty. I think I need more boxes. I went to the grocery store tonight to get some more boxes, and the meat guy gave me some. I got them home, and then realized they smelled like meat. It sicked me out. The boxes are now on my porch airing out.
Here are some pics of our friends the other night at dinner! We will miss them!
