Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry late Christmas and all that jazz!!

OK, done.

Now let’s discuss which shows I am excited about:

1) Heavy, A & E’s take on Biggest Loser, but it is not a competition. January 17
2) Pretty Little Liars – January 3
3) Secret Life – NOT SURE WHEN IT STARTS—does anyone know??
4) Biggest Loser – January 4 (yes I am watching because they are switching it up this season with 2 new trainers—and immunity if you choose to train with them!)
5) Southland – January 4
6) Friday Night Lights – January 5
7) Teen Mom 2 – January 11
8) Skins (MT new show!) – January 17
9) Parks and Recreation – January 20
10) Kourtney and Kim Take New York – January 23

Wednesday

A few of my favorite lines from 16 and Pregnant the last few weeks:

“You realize if you weren’t having a baby, I wouldn’t be here.”

“He may not be able to support me financially, but he can support me mentally!”

“Maybe my mom was right, Andrew wasn’t going to be a good daddy.”

When will these girls ever learn?

Intervention this week was a good success story! A 10 year meth addict from the hills of Tennessee (I once watched a documentary that took place in Tennessee in an area called “Meth Mountain”) who was homeless but lived on his parents land in a tent. He went to rehab without even a doubt, except when he called (and subsequently hung up on) his meth addict girlfriend who didn’t want him to leave her. Sober since July! Yay for him!

And I realize that How I Met Your Mother wasn’t new this week, but seriously, why does it have to continue to get better and better when we know it is almost over? The last few eps have been absolutely hilarious! (“the gentlemen” is my new fave line!)

Sunday PM

I seriously think I am going to start titling each post the day of the week that I write it...because then I dont have to think about it. And that is what my blog is about, really. Not having to "think" about it (it being anything)

Zac Efron (BF #2 behind JT) finally broke it off with Vanessa Hudgins. He is too good for her anyway (my opinion). In honor of that, I rented Charlie St. Cloud. Zac, I love you, but that movie was TERRIBLE. I actually didnt even make it through the whole movie, but, no worries, I found out what ended up happening in the end (not that I really cared at all). I decided today at church while conversing about Zac and Vanessa's break up with a friend (what you dont talk celebrity in the hall at church???) that Zac would be much better off with someone like Blake Lively.

I also went to see Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson in How Do You Know. How did I know it was a bad movie? I looked at my phone to check the time a million times, AND I think I even closed my eyes for a few seconds in the middle of the movie. I was so surprised because it is the type of movie that I usually like, and was full of my favorite actors too! I think the dynamic between Reese and Paul Rudd and Reese and Owen was just "off." I cant explain it any other way. Plus, not ONCE in the movie did they play that old 80s song "How will I know if he really loves me? I say a prayer with every heartbeat!" and really, I sort of thought they would honor old Whitney Houston with that at the very least. Call me crazy...

SNL has a really funny girl now who plays Miley Cyrus in a skit, and it is truly hilarious. Enjoy.

Tuesday Surprise

It is not often my DVR surprises me with shows that I didnt know were being recorded. But, today I got home and saw that Intervention started a new season on Monday night-- and of course I have the DVR set to record new eps, so I had a new episode of Intervention to watch! Yay! And it was a goodie! This poor girl was homeless (of course), panhandling to keep up with her cocaine/heroine habit (I will never give to people on the street after watching Intervention), and had a street "boyfriend" who was just as gross as she was. It was really sad. She did eventually get sober, and wrote a letter to her old boyfriend stating that their relationship was over. But, where did she send the letter? He was homeless, so what address did she use for him? I was confused...

Also got another pleasant surprise when I accidentally watched a commercial during Intervention. A new show called Heavy. About obese people (my favorite tv show subject!). It looked awesome and I cant wait.

And I just watched last week's Gossip Girl, and I have to say I am sort of disappointed at how it all panned out with the Serena stuff. So now are we supposed to hate Lily? Impossible! And is Serena going to want to get back with the teacher dude? I really dont like that they ended it like that--after a whole season of hype!

I watched Precious this weekend. It was disturbing and I dont recommend it.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas!

I read an article today about Farrah from Teen Mom that said that her baby’s grandma (mother of Farrah’s ex who died in a car accident before Sophia was born) had tried to get some sort of visitation rights (even though Farrah of course played victim and acted like they wanted nothing to do with Sophia. And, btw, the paternity test results came back and he was indeed the father. Surprise!

Somehow I have started watching The Middle this season on a pretty regular basis. I don’t even know what season it is on now, but I sort of like it. The kids totally make the show; I love the awkward daughter! Just thought I would share that I am watching, and I do enjoy it. But this show is supposed to take place in the 80s, right? Everything looks totally 80s, but then I am wondering if they just made it look all old fashioned because that is what everyone thinks the Midwest is like? Is that really what people think? Because, as with everywhere you live, it is true and it is not true. Just a little FYI…

And I really don’t want to bring up Bama Belles (but I will just this once) to give it any kind of notoriety at all whatsoever, not because I was embarrassed by how they portrayed Alabama or anything…but because it was just so freaking boring. I turned it off after about 20 minutes. And yall know, if I turn it off, it must be bad. That is all.

Love that they brought CT back on The Challenge…and that he eliminated Johnny Bananas. Priceless to see Johnny’s face when he found out he was going to have to go against CT! Tina is gross.

And, I love Modern Family and all…but come on Sophia Gerrara! Have some pride and don’t let them ONLY dress you in tight, cleavage-rich, revealing clothing! Seriously, she never wears anything normal. Granted, I am all for showing what you got a little bit of the time, but not EVERY single scene girlfriend!

Tuesday

I totally forgot that last week I realized that a new season of Celebrity Rehab had started (whew! That was a close one!). Depending on the celebs, and my time, I sometimes fast forward through a lot of the episodes or delete then altogether. But I like to have them on my DVR for those slow, Saturday afternoons.

Anyway, I was sort of anticipating this season to start because I wanted to see how bad off Jason Wahler (from Laguna Beach fame) really was (not that bad). Seriously, it seems that Jason just wants to get back in the limelight (little does he know Celebrity Rehab hasn’t worked for anyone in that respect—and they all try). He is as gross as ever and still probably wishes he wouldn’t have dumped LC for Jessica. Or however that ended up working out…

BUT, guess who else is on this season? Remember the guy who was on The Millionaire Matchmaker, who was completely disgusting and had a monkey with him at all times? Yes, I know you remember him. He is on this season of CR! Weird.

New Show Alert: I Used to be Fat. Yall know I will love this since I have that weird obsession with watching shows about obese people. This one is basically MTVs’ very own Biggest Loser! I think it starts in January.

Two Movies

The first, 127 Hours. We went to see this last night in the theater with some friends. It was really good! It definitely could have been boring, because it was mostly James Franco the whole time (which I LOVED!). But he did an amazing job, and the movie was just really well done. Apparently some people have thrown up in the theater because they thought it was gross, but I really didnt think it was that gross at all. (But then again, I pretty much saw my own fingers being cut off, so maybe my stomach isnt easily affected.)Either way, its a good one.

The second movie was a bust. The Time Traveler's Wife. I hadnt seen it, and it has been out quite a while now. I know that I am not a Nicholas Sparks fan (with the one exception of A Walk to Remember), so not surprising I did not like this movie. It sort of didnt make sense. It was lame that he had like so many goings and comings in all different times (unlike the successful time travel movie Back to the Future)And sometimes he stayed without travelling for a long time, but sometimes it was like 5 seconds. It was just lame. And I hated that the wife even had the nerve to get MAD at him when he wasnt there. I mean, hello?! You were the one who decided to marry the time traveler freak! Lame.

What I Like

I like the website/book Stuff White People Like.

My favorite posts are the ones that I myself have questioned many times, and I just dont get. (Yes, I realize even my own friends are/do some of the things listed below...)

In no particular order (and I am quoting parts of the excerpts from the site):

1) Mad Men
"Mad Men is a TV show on cable with low ratings, multiple awards, critical praise, and full seasons available on DVD. It’s no surprise white people love it.

The show is set in 1960 and features meticulous art direction that strives to make the show as historically accurate as possible. This veracity makes the show especially vulnerable to one of white people’s favorite activities on earth: finding mistakes. And as is always the case with white people, the harder someone strives for accuracy, the happier a white person is to prove them wrong."

2) Marathons
"To a white person, the absolute pinnacle of fitness is to run a marathon. Not to win, just to run.

White people will train for months, telling everyone who will listen about how they get up early in the morning, they run when it rains, how it makes them feels so great and gives them energy.

When they finish the marathon, they will generally take a photo of themselves in a pair of New Balance sneakers, running shorts, and their marathon number with both hands over their head in triumph (seriously, look it up, this is universal).

If you find yourself in a situation where a white person is talking about a marathon, you must be impressed or you will lose favor with them immediately. Running for a certain length of time on a specific day is a very important thing to a white person and should not be demeaned."

3) Not having a TV
"The number one reason why white people like not having a TV is so that they can tell you that they don’t have a TV."

4) Sushi
"Regardless if you are vegetarian, vegan, or just guilty about eating meat, all white people love Sushi. To them, it’s everything they want: foreign culture, expensive, healthy, and hated by the ‘uneducated.’"

5) Vegan/ Vegetarianism
"As with many white people activities, being vegan/vegetarian enables them to feel as though they are helping the environment AND it gives them a sweet way to feel superior to others. For further evidence, note how the vegetarian world has increasing levels of extemism (no meat, no dairy, no eggs, no fish, nothing that has been cooked, etc).

Much like not watching TV, this makes white people pretty hard to deal with on a day to day basis – having dinner, going to restaurants, having them over to watch political debates all become major challenges as they will talk about how they cannot eat anything and would rather that the meat and cheese be thrown in the garbage than put into their bodies."

Love it.

For the Record

We had an excellent Thanksgiving meal surrounded by lots of friends, and a few strangers---and we were lucky to be invited by such a gracious host. And, again, thank you Boston Market for making everyone think that I am an amazing cook (because of course I put them in my own dish! KIDDING! They were in disposable stuff so you cant tell where it was from!). We are WAY in the back right side of this pic. Very back.

OMG please tell me you watched Gossip Girl this week! I just finished and I really am so excited to see what happens with all of this stuff with Serena! I cant believe that one girl is a complete lunatic--and why do she and her brother want to get Serena back so bad?! Love it! So glad I jumped back on the GG wagon...

90210 this week was sort of a nothing. However, I was really thinking about what I would do if I were Silver, and my BESTIE's boyfriend had just told me he liked me! And I liked him too! Do you be a good friend, and since you basically CANNOT be together anyway (and still retain your friendship), go ahead and just tell your BFF that her boyfriend said he liked you? Or do you NOT tell and let this just go on and on? I am guessing it would be nice to SAY I would pick being the better friend, but we all (well, most of us) know that I was the Angelina in the relationship which says a lot about how I would handle that situation. I mean, it all works out in the end, right?! :)

16 and Preggers...same story, different girl. When will they ever learn?

FYI: Outsourced, the MOVIE that the show was based on, is way better than the show. The movie doesnt try to be AS funny, so it works. I am so OVER the show.

And, just so you know, I got to watch a crazy juggler/clown lady today at work.

Stuff

I have to start by saying that I finally found another good scary movie that is worth it and not disgusting and bloody (thanks Hiltons!). The Orphanage. It came out a few years ago, and I distinctly remember my sister asking me if I was going to watch it because it looked really creepy (when do little freaky kids NOT look creepy?). But I never watched because it was in subtitles. And the only thing I hate worse than movies with British accents that I cant understand is movies with subtitles! So I never watched, until on Turkey Day, some friends were saying how scary it was. Naturally, I came right home that night, found it on Netflix, and watched. Loved it! It was a great scary movie (not like so scary, but a good one complete with my favorite scary elements of psychics, ghosts, and little freaky children). Go watch it. And it is on streaming from Netflix.

Secondly, we have been so lucky to have a huge group of BYU fans here to watch the games with each week. The group has been pretty consistent throughout the year, so last night I finally got a pic of our Coug fans (and we all, for the most part, graduated from the Y!). Even though we lost, it was a lot of fun. And next year when all home games are on ESPN we can watch in our media center in our building instead of cramming into our living room!

Lastly, have you seen the infomercial for "Pajama Jeans"?? The name alone makes me think I would totally be into them. Check them out, seriously, (www.pajamajeans.com) and order me some for Christmas if you really want to impress me with how well you know me.

Yes, I am Thankful for Stuff

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you ordered your meal from Boston Market like I did to ensure a relaxing, stress-free holiday. Awesome.

There is no need to make the huge list of all of the many things I am thankful for, because it is seriously so much it would never be done.

But at this exact very moment, I am especially thanksful for this week's episode of 16 and Pregnant.

If you missed it, you really missed a gem of a story. It all started with a shot of the new Teen Mom's room, complete with a Billy Ray Cyrus poster. I repeat. She had a poster of Billy Ray Cyrus (from the 90s). And, she didnt even live in Alabama!! Surprise! It was absolutely priceless.

It was an episode jam-packed with the usual commentary procided by the teen mother herself! This ALWAYS includes:
"I thought everything would be ok, but nothing has worked out as I had planned."
"How are we going to make this work once the baby comes?"

This mother and her fiancee (oh, sorry, husband...they got married by a judge right before the baby was born), topped it off though by their solution to their money woes: GOLD PANNING. Yep. Gold panning was how they were going to make money for their new baby.

It doesnt get any better than that, people.

But once again, it just breaks your heart that they have to go through this because it is never easy and it NEVER works out like the mothers think it will. And that is why teens watching 16 and Pregnant is probably one of the best ways to prevent teen pregnancy.

Happy Thanksgiving.

How Quickly We Forget

Or rather, how quickly I forget. I completely forgot how nice it was to wake up, make AJ breakfast, and then get right back into bed for another hour or so of beauty sleep. Last year I had it so nice (working part-time is (was) the BEST!). Well, that is just what I did this morning, and I revelled in it. So nice.

I signed up for a free month of Netflix, and I am sorely disappointed at the variety of movies available for immediate streaming through my wii. Why arent ALL movies available to stream? Seriously, I am not signing up for Netflix permanently until they increase the streaming library. That being said, streaming movies is the most amazing idea ever, and I am thankful for that invention.

So, since I had a hard time finding anything to watch that I have not previously seen at least once, so I settled on the documentary Babies (which I had actually wanted to see anyway but didnt want to pay for). It concerned me a lot, and I really feel the need now to adopt all babies born in Africa and/or Mongolia. I am scared for them. On the other hand, I guess what this movie proves is that no matter where you grow up, kids are capable of surviving almost anything. Even being tied with a rope to the bed and left unsupervised for long periods of time (which happened to the Mongolian baby).

Also started watching Food, Inc. but it was lame. I really wasnt shocked by any of the things that they were saying about the food industry, and I love McDonalds way too much to hate on it. I didnt finish the whole thing because it was BORING!

Is it just me, or have the last 2 episodes of How I Met Your Mother really funny?! Just when you think a show is on its way out, it revs it back into gear. Love that show, even though it is flawed in the most major way (as I have described before).

OOhh! I did finally watch Shutter Island the other day. I was disappointed because I thought it was going to be scary. It isnt. And, although I didnt exactly know what the twist was going to be in the end, I knew something like that was coming.

Happy Thankgiving: Pilgrim Style

Remember when we by-chance decided to be in Gettysburg on their biggest day of the year (July 3) when they had celebrations and re-enactments and bugles? Well, Friday I got the idea that on Saturday we should drive down to Plymouth to see Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower--and eat at Red Robin (I already knew there was a Red Robin there, so that was part of the plan the whole time). That was all. Those 3 things, and then done with Plymouth.

Little did we know that the Saturday before Thanksgiving is the biggest celebration (well, maybe besides Thanksgiving Day itself) in Plymouth! We had no idea until we pulled into town, and saw signs saying "We love a parade! Park here!" So we did (and it was FREE!!!! Unheard of!!). And we were about a block away from the beginning of the parade--which had just started 5 minutes before we pulled up. AWESOME!!! We clearly have intuition on when to randomly show up at historical places on their holidays to maximize our experience. The parade was great: I posed with one of the high school flag teams, marched in front of a band at one point, almost stepped in horse dook, and...wait for it...even met Red Robin!!!!

I found out halfway through the parade that somehow my poor husband had never been to a parade. Like, ever. Wha??? We had so much fun, and got to see Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II. And of course, the perfect day of celebration ended with a trip to my fave Red Robin!

I also loved that the longest line at the whole fair was for the McDonalds booth! Seriously, that is why I love America (and I am not saying that sarcastically).

HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEK!!!

Because I am bored and love these things...

30 things to do before you are 30 (with my have/have nots):
1. Have a really stupid accident which necessitates a hospital visit
Uh, yes. And I now only have 6 fingers left to prove it.
2. Shoot something
Done. My dad took me out when I was little to shoot at some bottles. I now freak out if I am in the same room as a gun.
3. Take a weekend break more than 1000 miles from home
Yes. Love that!
4. Get lost in a country where you don't speak the language
Worst nightmare ever—especially because I envision this happening right before I get killed by some psycho murdered, and since I am in a different country there are most likely no laws and/or no incorrupt policeman to help me out.
5. Spend more than your monthly income on a pocket sized gadget
Well, before I had a job in Boston, I bought myself a new blackberry. AJ was working, so at least HE had an income---but at the time it was more than I made!
6. Post bail for a friend
This would be incredibly hilarious to me if I had to do it, but I haven’t yet.
7. Break a really large plate glass window
Nope.
8. Jump out of a parachute or bungee jump.
Never will do this. I did do the bungee chair thing once at the beach, though.
9. Use a whole roll of tape in one day
Don’t think I have done this.
10. Buy a samurai sword
Never will do this.
11. Delay paying a bill until the cancellation notice arrives
Never will do this either. That is just irresponsible!
12. Refill an inkjet cartridge
Um, I do this nearly every day.
13. Make a fool of yourself on national television
Done. Remember when I was on the Countdown with Keith Olbermann freaking out before shaking Obama’s hand? Yeah, embarrassing.
14. Do a ridiculous turn to beat somebody to a parking space
Never done personally, but I did park in a new mom/ expectant mother parking spot and got yelled out by an old man. But, really, maybe I COULD have been pregnant. You never know.
15. Own a convertible.
Never!
16. Live abroad.
Hopefully not ever. This main seem close-minded to you, but to me it just seems the safest place for someone as paranoid as I am. See #5 above…
17. Drive at more than 140mph.
Again, I hope to never do. That is just dangerous!
18. Get something for free through a masterpiece of complaining
Uh, I do this pretty frequently! I have gotten free things from 13 Jimmy Johns’ sandwiches to free movie channels to a free rental car upgrade.
19. Completely dismantle an object larger than yourself
Boring.
20. Fall asleep and get really hilarious sunburn
No, but I have stayed in a tanning bed a few minutes too long…
21. Lick the terminals of a 9 volt battery
Gross, why would you do that?
22. Stay at the office for more than 24 hours
Gross, why would you do THAT?
23. Set off a fire extinguisher
On purpose, no. On accident—too many times to keep track.
24. Drive at least 600 miles in a day on two lane roads
Hmmmm….I would have to think about this one. Probably done.
25. Watch a season of a tv show all in one sitting
Is this a joke? Of course I have! 24, The OC, Everybody Loves Raymond, Alias, etc. etc. etc.
26. Dial 911
No. But I do have the number for unsolved mysteries (from the 90s) memorized. (1800-876-5353) Never called it, either.
27. Commit a faux pas which means that a friend will never speak to you again
Oh sad! I probably did do something when I was like 12, but I don’t think there is anyone who would never talk to me again! And if there is, they sort of need to get over it, right? (that sounds totally mean, but I mean, forgive and forget!)
28. Make a bet you couldn't afford to lose
All the time. But I never have had to pay it out because its obvious I cant pay someone 1 million dollars OR even give a 30 minute massage (I only like to be on the receving ends of massages) hahaha
29. Read a 500 page book in one sitting
I’ll pass, thanks.
30. Escape a perfectly justified parking ticket.
Ooh…does never paying a BYU parking ticket count?

Hump Day Ramblings

Loved this skit-- ScarJo from SNL last week playing Patti on Millionaire Matchmaker.

"You look like a dog dump!" "No way I am working with her! Let's go meet her." Hilarious!

90210 review:
Teddy's new (sort of) boyfriend: Yes.
Silver's super short hair: Sometimes.
Annie's new boyfriend: NO!
Aunt Becky with the teacher: Wha??

Gossip Girl threw some curves this week! Jenny is good! No, she is bad! Oh, she is working with Juliet? I hate that Vanessa is also in on it with Juliet because I feel like Vanessa wouldnt really be into that. And geez louise, talk about an elaborate plan! And now S is all drugged up alone with Juliet. I wonder why? I love Chuck and Blair together--I hate that now all of a sudden shes isnt ready to be his girlfriend! Dumb!

Regret

I can say that I do regret voting for Obama. I am ok with that. What do I not regret? I do NOT regret NOT voting for McCain/ Palin. And in case I was doubting my position on that, TLC has brought us Sarah Palin's Alaska show, which completely reiterates that she should have never been on ANY political ticket. At least the baby bears were cute. So, I sort of just wish I wouldnt have voted at all. End of story.

I am sure another regret that is soon to come is a regret of being from Dothan, Alabama. Why? Because TLC announced their new show this week called Bama Belles, which is going to be a "real housewives" type of show. It is based on ladies from rural Dothan. Not sure why they say "rural" Dothan, because Dothan itself IS rural, but I am guessing it is because they are from the country...as in, completely backwards. It is sure to embarass us. I already know that because one of the ladies on the show chews tobacco. What? Who freaking chews tobacco--and is a woman? Gross. Click here for more info.

This was my trunk (and it is actually what it usually looks like at any given moment (dont judge):

Full of DC and DDP and sprinkled with some fresca. Just how I like it.

Last Week Stuff

90210: why do we care if Naveed's Dad employs 17 year old girls in his porno films? Naveed is completely ok with an 18 year old girl being degraded like that, but a 17 year old? No way! And geez louise, the Dad has a new girlfriend? And Aunt Becky is way cuter than the new girlfriend so he got a major downgrade! I cant believe they are getting divorced.

Kendra came back last week and while I like her, I really thought it was dumb that she thinks that the only way to "look hot" is to pose for playboy. No other way. So dumb.

And The Office sort of went back this week to being depressing for Michael. Although, the last scene where he acted like Erin's dad was funny. I really dont know what they are going to do without him though. It just wont be the same.

I am so over Outsourced. Sorry, but the jokes that Americans dont know anything about Indian culture are lost on me. I guess we are continuing to watch it, just in case it takes a turn for the better after this first season...that is, if it gets renewed.

Have you been following the whole Elizabeth Smart testifying/trial thing? Geez I feel so bad for her. Go to CNN and read it if you havent already. I will never forget the day she was found. I was at BYU, at my brother's house, skipping class. He was at the library. I saw the breaking news that she was found (which was such a huge deal in Utah, I am just assuming it was a huge deal everywhere else too). I called my bro immediately to tell him. He proceeded to stand up in the quiet library, and shout out loud "They found Elizabeth Smart!!" It was hilarious.

Lesson reiterated by the Elizabeth Smart case (that I learned years ago from Jack Bauer): Always run, no matter what your captor says he will do to you or your family. Take your chances.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Remember that show on Nickelodean (well, specifically Saturday Night Nick, or SNICK) Are You Afraid of the Dark? LOVED THAT SHOW. I remember even getting all excited/scared during the opening credits, where they had that campfire or whatever. Awesome.

Anyway, I may have another favorite, scary TV show: The Walking Dead on AMC. It started last week, and I have just seen the first ep (2nd ep currently on DVR). It is a zombie show, which normally I am not into. However, I am ok with these zombies because the zombies in this show do not possess super human strength like they do in every zombie movie out there. Why is that? It's like in every zombie movie, the zombies can think, and they can like rip off steel doors from the hinges or lift cars and stuff? Not in this show. The zombies are totally out-of-it and just normal strength (as I guess I imagine they would be in real life). Anyway, I think I like it. Go AMC for having another awesome show (I am referring to Breaking Bad here, NOT MadMen).

I also had DVR'd the movie The Crazies, and we finally got around to watching it, since we felt like we were on a scary-theme. It was actually sort of ok. It was a teeny bit bloody for my taste, but not the worst movie ever, I have to say.

I also have to confess that I watched the Amityville Horror special called something like "The End." Basically a psychic supposedly went in and finally put the family to rest once and for all. The problem was that the psychic was obsessed with the kid who was the killer, so she believed everything he told her about stuff and the evil spirits and stuff. Oh, and by the way, she says that she knows he didnt murder his whole family...his sister did. WT? Yeah, right. She is soon going to be on the show Prison Wives probably because she wants to marry this DeMeo dude.

I promise that was all the scary stuff I watched this weekend. I of course watched all of the comedy shows from Thursday night. Not much to say about them, except that Community was sort of weird and I am sort of losing interest. Anyone else? Britta looks weird, like Michael Jackson in a way...am I right?

I was about a week behind getting caught up on 90210 and Gossip Girl. And I really want Serena and Chase Crawford to be together! So glad Blair and Chuck FINALLY are back together, sort of. That needed to happen. I still really want to know why this family wants to ruin Serena's life, but do we think it has something to do with when she got into a drunk driving accident a few years ago? Didnt that happen? They sort of thought they resolved it, but maybe this is somehow connected? I could be remembering that wrong, but I am pretty sure that happened.

Real Housewives of Bev Hills is on as I am blogging (and, no I havent seen any of it until right now!). But one of the ladies asked the other ladies "have you eaten this week?" and she said "no." Awesome.

Thursday

Teen Mom this week was just straight-up s-a-d. This poor girl already had nothing, and was aiming to be the first one in her entire family (5 kids and 2 parents) to graduate from high school. Insert lame, poor, part-time only at a barber shop employed boyfriend, and she is preggers. Of course, she has high hopes he will change and all of a sudden want to spend MORE time with her now that she is pregnant. That doesn’t happen. Then she thinks he will get better once she has the baby. That doesn’t happen either. Poor girl. She was sad. Her labor looked terrible too because she kept throwing up. No thanks!

At least this week on Biggest Loser they voted someone off who deserved to be kicked off! Anna was the worst. She did nothing and complained constantly. Too bad, so sad. Still not sure why they voted off 2 HUGE guys before her, but whatever.

I did it. I watched Old Dogs. It actually did give me a few laughs, I have to admit.

Up for this weekend's agenda: Hereafter (The movie about Matt Damon being a psychic.)

Last Week's Stuff

Ummmmm...Jessica Simpson. She looked TERRIBLE as a guest judge on Project Runway's finale, didnt she? I mean, WOW. She has really gone downhill, even since the whole "mom-jeans" episode last year. That is really all I can say. Wow.

Now on to talking about how Gretchen did NOT deserve to WIN PR!!!! I think everyone agrees that, whether you like his style or not (and I happen to usually like it), Mondo totally was clearly the winner. Gretchen used the SAME BLAH fabric on almost all of her outfits! Her outfits all looked the SAME, and have all looked the same ALL freaking season! (You should be able to tell how much I really disliked that she won by the amount of exclamation points I used in this paragraph!) AHHH!!

Jersey Shore reunion was sort of non-drama. I did think it was hilarious when they started to get the "MVP" guys all riled up. Once again I ask, Why does Ronnie still go out with Sammi? She is so BLAH and she is always complaining.

Most of you already know that I read Kendra Wilkinson's book, Sliding into Home. Let me sum it up for you: She used to do drugs BIG time--but like even before playboy. By the time she met Hef, she was already clean. But she did like HARD drugs. Big time. And now, despite the fact that I couldnt stand her on Girls Next Door, I really like her now! Her second season of Kendra starts Sunday!

Now, on to my latest accessory: the shoe-boot. One unexplained etiology/probable fracture in left foot, and one heal(ing) fracture in the right foot. I am officially an old lady with brittle bones.

Finally made it to a Covered Bridge

Note to self: never wear black puffy vest unless you want to appear 15 lbs heavier...

Ever since moving to New England, I have been wanting to go see a covered bridge...and of course, I wanted to go to the one that was shown on Beetlejuice. Well, I didnt exactly make it to that covered bridge (which I did find--it was just a little further away and we werent up for a long drive) but I did find a good one that was just a little less than an hour away from us in New Hampshire. So we called it our late-Fall foliage/ covered bridge tour of New England.

On the way back from the covered bridge, we drove down to Lexington and Concord (where some battles were fought and where the "shot heard 'round the world" took place). I have to admit, we have been to so many historical places and battlegrounds over the years that they all run together...but, alas, we have trekked to them all. While there, we also got a picture of Emerson's house over by Walden Pond--we didnt realize this was all basically the same area as the battleground.

Of course, being Halloween and all, we got some pictures of creepy old cemetaries along the way--and there are plenty of those in New England.

Is It Friday Yet?

The new 16 and Pregnant season is off with a bang -- complete with a family full of racers. And, yes, the groom wore his "racing suit" to the altar. I am not going to hate too bad on this family though, because, honestly, I think they were good people. A little country, but just country enough to make it work with a little community support (which they had a lot of--so cute).

90210: Please dont try and recreate the whole OC scenario complete with Ryan (aka Liam) and the Cohens who take him in and let him move to their pool house (aka the psycho girls family). So glad you have morals, Liam, and wont stoop to working somewhere that requires you to work topless. You are such an upstanding citizen...but what ARE those scars on your back??? And you share them with your brother? It's just crazy! (yes, that was sarcasm)

So does this week's episode mean Jenny Humphrey is pretty much gone forever from Gossip Girl?? I love Jenny, even though she sort of wears a lot of dark makeup. And whoah cleavage Serena in that dress you wore to the party! Love that Tim Gunn made an appearance, even though he acted nervous, right? Dont hate on my Uncle Tim though!

I tried to watch Dear John (finally--it had been on my DVR for almost 2 months). I really tried. End of story: Deleted after 15 minutes. And speaking of cleavage--Amanda Seyfried's got a lot of it.

Did anyone else see that preview at the movies for the Ice Road Trucker show that is having the truckers drive on this narrow, winding road in the Himalayas? It looked scary and I think someone died. I want to watch it but dont know what day it is on! I think it was History Channel.

Halloween Came a Little Early

I already donned my Halloween costume this year and it is retired to the bottom of one of my (many) plastic bins of old clothes that I will probably never wear again. But you never know, right?

Guess what I am...

And some of my other faves from the party (not nearly all of them; everyone looked awesome):
Brand and Data from The Goonies

Chilean Coal Miners

Adam and Eve

Mondo from Project Runway (why didnt I think of this?)

Happy Halloween!!!!

More Freaky Eaters

Did anyone else watch the new E show What's Eating You? Man, people have PROBLEMS! This show is about people with weird habits. All of these shows are basically an intervention/hoarders/OCD show because every one of these people have severe anxiety issues and they just have some weird ways of manifesting it (like never eating anything that tastes good for fear of overeating, or dipping your oreo into the cola that you are obsessed with).

Speaking of psychological issues, let's move on to Teen Mom's Reunion finale. There are at least 2 people who have real psychological problems: Farrah and Amber. Farrah is such a butt. Seriously, she is the type of person who idolizes anyone who is NOT around (aka, her EX boyfriend that she wasnt even with anymore because they had problems) and pushes anyone who really would help her away (her mom and dad).
Amber, of course, is depressed. Actually, there is no way she should possibly be raising Leah right now. She should never have had this baby, and it clearly pushed her OVER the edge. I hope she gets help, like, now. I actually felt a little bad for her last night. She went crazy on Gary! Gary is just dumb to put up with it all. Caitlin once again was the adult in the sitch with her mom. I kept wanting Dr. Drew to intervention her because she is on drugs! She looked terrible last night (not so different than how she looks on the show though).

Biggest Loser this week surprised me! I cant believe they voted off that guy! I felt so bad for him, and the team clearly doesnt have any idea what they were doing because they will need a big guy who can lose a lot to keep winning! I just got to where I fast forward through the whole "Jillian as a counselor" scenes where she tries to break down people and make them cry. So annoying. Stick to training, J.

Freaky Eaters

I discovered a new show on TLC called Freaky Eaters. If you that think you consume a high amount of ANYTHING, trust me, you dont in comparison with these people. Like, I thought I drank a lot of diet coke...until I watched Freaky Eaters: Addicted to Cola. I am TOTALLY normal. I thought I ate a lot of pizza...until I watched Freaky Eaters: Addicted to Pizza. I am COMPLETELY okay. Awesome.

Tonight, there is a special on VH1 that you are going to need to watch. Rock of Love Girls: Where are they Now. Man, do I LOVE VH1!!!! How did they know I have been wondering where Lacey was?

We cut off The Event tonight. The main reason: one of the lead characters (the dude) has a goatee. Gross. Plus, it just sucked.

My favorite line from It's Always Sunny this past week: "Dont undermine my prayer with voo-doo!"

I hope you all got to see the South Park that made fun of every Jersey show on TV right now. They had Snooki down to a T. Hilarity!

Get well soon, TJ Lavin! We will miss you on MTV's Challenges if you dont recover! Who else will act like they totally hate the players and couldnt wait to get out of there?

Teen Mom Finale

I figured this event needed its own post. And maybe the reunion will also needs it own post, too...I always want Dr. Drew to regulate on these girls (namely Farrah and Amber) but he never does.

Amber. Oh, Amber. First of all, you are diagnosably (yes it is a word in my mind) crazy. I know because I am married to a doctor. hahaha And its pretty obvious. And I dont think Gary is THAT off base calling child services on you, because you ARE abusive. I am almost positive you had abused Leah (which is why she hilariously tells you to "Be quiet. Now." in the finale episode. (Classic, Leah!!!!!)

Gary is also correct in not wanting your ex-convict-out-on-work-release boyfriend that you have only known a week (and met at wal-mart) to change your baby's diaper! I agree, Gary.

To the new jail-bait boyfriend: Thank you for being so stereotypical. I loved when, the moment after you said you loved Amber and wanted to be with her forever, you ask to borrow her car. Awesome.

Gary, I like you...please lose weight. You are very unhealthy. Maybe Biggest Loser next season??

Maci. Love you. Your baby is the cutest. I sometimes want you to be back with Ryan, but then I remember how rude he was to you during the first few seasons, and you are better off without him. I also think he has done even more rude things off camera because I am surprised if he and his family are so supportive, that he only has custody like a few times a week...but I dont know much about child support. Live with your parents as long as they will let you. Their house is nice and they pay for everything.

Farrah you are a B. I know you say (and maybe you are) you are depressed and sad and all of that, but where were all of these emotions in ANY of the last seasons? It is like you all of a sudden remembered you were sad THIS season. You dont listen to anything your mom says UNLESS it is what you want to hear. Your Dad came over to HELP YOU, and you got an attitude with him because he had plans later. Why? Get over yourself. You are not as cute as you think you are. hahaha

Caitlin (and Tyler) you are amazing. You are one of the most mature people I think I know (because I dont really know you). Your mom is abusive to you, yet you keep a great attitude and just want her love, and it is sad. Please move far, far away from your family and start a new life with Tyler. You only have each other it seems, and your brother/sister relationship oddly works for you, so go with it.

Still laughing over Amber.

Jinxes (is that the plural of jinx?)

I was raised to believe in jinxes (I am going with that as the plural form). More specifically, jinxes involving sports teams. My dad used to tell us that we were "jinxing them" when we would change the channel during commercials of an Alabama game, or when one TV was on at the beginning of the game, and we left the room and turned it off. Those were all circumstances that might "jinx" the Crimson Tide, thereform causing them to lose the game.

And this weekend, I think I jinxed them. All season, I have worn one of my Alabama t-shirts on game day...and we all know we were winning every game. This weekend, I didnt wear my shirt...and we lost. It was my fault. I am still not ready to come to terms with the fact that we arent #1 anymore, and it was most likely my fault. Ugh.

On to a few lighter topics, this weekend was a definite movie marathon weekend. I already said that I went to see The Social Network (and you should too!), but Monday I went with a friend to see It's Kind of a Funny Story. And it really is just that. Very much reminded me of Little Miss Sunshine, and it wasnt at all what I had expected, but it was a pretty good movie! Funny, yet serious. And totally laughs in the face of If You Really Knew Me (MTV show that I love to hate). I feel like it basically taught you that you DONT have it that bad after all (usually), and that you are not the ONLY one to have ever felt depressed or stressed or whatever.

AJ and I went last night to see Waiting for Superman, a movie about public schools. It was sad. It made me relieved that I was one of the few people to actually graduate from an Alabama public school with good reading and math scores (seriously, the stats scare you). And, what I took from it was that the people who are trying to reform the schools cant because of the Teachers' Union. Whether that is right or not, that is what I learned from the movie, so I am going with it. It also made me realize that parents shouldnt take their children to the "lotteries" that are held to get into Magnet Schools, or "better" schools than they are zoned for. The kids are totally stressed out about it and dont need to know what is going on. Just tell them when you get home IF they make it in!

I will talk TV later. I am too busy watching Guiliana and Bill right now.

Sunday

We went and saw The Social Network this weekend. We actually went to see it twice, but it was SOLD OUT for 2 showtimes in a row so we had to come back another time. I was really surprised that it was STILL selling out in the second week in theaters (or was it third)...but having seen it now, it was well worth it. Seriously, it was a very good movie and you should go see it. I realize that the story told in the movie isnt 100% accurate, but either way, I am still on Mark Zuckerberg's side. I actually really liked him in the movie (I do realize that my opinion was not the popular one) but I did! I felt like he was taken advantage of and misunderstood. Lovable nerd. I liked him.

Side note: My old boyfriend Justin Timberlake did a great job being the D-bag who invented Napster. Did you know that the dude who invented Napster still makes money from facebook for sitting on his butt? I sure didnt. But, anyway, JT has actually proven himself to be a good little actor! I mean, this movie and Alpha Dog were both good!

I DVR'd Beetlejuice and we watched it this weekend. It isnt near as good as I had remembered it. Beetlejuice didnt even make a real appearance in the movie until an hour in! Lame!

Next up on my DVR: Cujo. Awesomeness.

It's Wednesday

Shows I Gave Up on This Week:

Running Wilde. Will Arnett, I love you. I really do. But this show is so NOT funny. You dont really have any chemistry with Keri Russell. At all. Sorry, dude.

Rubicon. I really thought this show could make it. We even watched about 6 or 7 episodes to give it a real fighting chance. It never came around. I dont think anyone else is watching it, anyway.

Shows on the Chopping Block:

The Event. What do we think about this show? As I said before, I really want to like it. I want it to be good and maybe a little freaky. I feel like the whole alien thing is a little off. I will continue to watch until I start to get really bored, though.

This Week so far:

Let's talk Too Fat for Fifteen. I am sort of mad at the Wellspring Academy (school where the overweight kids live to go to school and lose weight). They found wrappers of all of this candy in one of the dorms' garbage cans and were trying to figure out who stole the food. Initially, I thought whoever it was had snuck the food in (successfully). However, the counselors went through the kitchen to assess what had been stolen, and they showed the cupboard. The cupboard was not full of fruit, or even goldfish crackers or wheat thins. They had HUGE Sam's Club sized boxes of candy bars! Kit Kats, Twix, Pop Tarts, etc! Um...why did they have this food at the camp AT ALL???? Of course the 450 lb 15 year old will break in to steal that!

90210. Is it just me, or is Annie's hair really, REALLY two-toned (not in a good way)? Part of her hair is almost black. I am not feeling it. And, in case anyone reads this blog who wants to buy my eggs for $20,000...we can work out a deal. (Disclaimer: my eggs dont really work for me, but maybe they will for you!) And, I have to admit, I thought the little dance that they guys did before the auction was cute! And it made me notice the one guy with the longer hair that doesnt have a big role, but he is at the school. He is cute! (no Chace Crawford, but he is cute!)

I was so mad at the old lady on Biggest Loser for saying she wanted to go home (one night after elimination when she begged to stay and convinced everyone to keep her there) so she could go home and go on a vacation with her family! Where did that come from?! I am glad she was eliminated this week anyway, fair and square. I think she just wanted to be on a mother/daughter team all along, and when she made it on to the show and her daughter didnt, she didnt want to stay. And that "find the ring in the sand" challenge was bull! That one girl totally stole that ring from the guy who dug it out! I hate challenges that are based on chance.

Teen Mom. Cailtin and Tyler. So sad. And I am so surprised that Maci and Kyle broke up!!!! Where did that come from? I just read an article where they were doing great! But seriously, Maci should never have moved away from home just for a guy... if there were other reasons to move and he was one of them, fine. But she moved JUST for him, and now look what happened! And of COURSE Amber is dating a convict. And of COURSE they met at Wal-mart.

And I am back into Jerseylicious. Not sure how that happened...

A new Challenge starts tonight on MTV!!!! Yay!!!!

Afterthought addition: It was brought to my attention that Annie's hair fad is a huge thing. I saw a few weeks back a thing on E! regarding this trend, and the girls they modeled did indeed have two-toned hair...and it looked so-so (do-able for some). However, I still am not feeling Annie's two-toned hair (half of it being black). For the record, I actually am NEVER a fan of Annie's hair, so maybe that influences my opinion. I am more of a Silver hair fan. Shauna, I am sure your hair looks GREAT, and if you say it is good, I believe it! (I am easily influenced by the opinion of others)

Apple Picking Pics

"The Red Hots Are For My Mommy"

What? Yes, that was a direct quote from a pastry chef on Top Chef Just Desserts. He has probs. Like, majorly. (the breakdown was caused by the fact that he made a dessert, but didnt have enough time to put out his red hot flavored ice cream on the side). BTW: this show is not NEARLY as good as the regular Top Chef.

Thursday night TV this week was good all over.

First, It's Always Sunny. Dee dancing on the boat like the blow-up guy from a car lot. I watched it three times and almost peed in my pants. Hilarity!

Also laughed my booty off during Community this week when Annie cholorformed the janitor, and then the group decided to pretend that they were cholorformed too so he wouldnt know it was them. So funny, and I usually dont laugh out loud at that show. Plus, the janitor was played by the guy from My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance (yes, that was a real show a few years back).

Amber seriously needs help on Teen Mom. She is abusive. That is so NOT funny.

30 Rock was hilarious too (I had quite the laughs the other night!). Jack's video for his baby...love that show.

Speaking of stuff that I LOVE: the month of October! Why? MonsterFest on AMC. Scary movies all month long (most days). LOVE IT!

We went Apple Picking this weekend with our friends Jhordan and Shawn at a farm. Straight up farming it: animals and all. The animals are gross but the apples are delish! I will post the pics in a sec...but you may have to click on the link to see them...

A Lazy Lounge Lizard

Another classic phrase taken from my British (fake) best friend, Nikki on Thintervention. She is just freaking hilarious, and even though she IS quite lazy, she is funny enough for me to still like her a lot. But Jackie's little workout plan doesnt seem to working for ANYONE, which sort of sucks. 1 pound weight loss in a week after working out like they are would be quite discouraging.

And since we are talking weight loss, may as well talk Biggest Loser. I very much like the bottom half of the group being under the yellow line and then competing to stay. I cant help but think that if Michael from last season was made to compete to stay out of the bottom vote off, he would have been off after episode 1! Yes, I am still bitter against Mike and Shae.

Loved when Barney sang "Stand By Me" at the piano with his brother and (supposed) Dad on How I Met Your Mother. NPH totally makes that show. Marshall is starting to look terrible though, right?

So someone please fill me in on Gossip Girl as to who the girl is who wants to take down Serena--and who is the guy in prison? I obviously missed something since I was only a sporatic viewer last season...

So I tried to give Running Wild another chance this week. After all, I love Will Arnett and I think Keri Russell is so cute...but this show is just a no-go. Totally missing the mark.

Another disappointment of the new Fall season was that show My Generation. I thought it sounded good: following a group of students from class of 2000 when they were in high school, and up until now. For some reason I thought this was going to be a documentary/reality show...well, it wasnt. At all. Totally actors. Totally lame. I watched all of 5 minutes of it last week.

Monday

We finally sat down to watch The Event this weekend. I feel like I dont really have enough information to make a judgment call yet, but it seems to be ok...with potential to go downhill very fast. Could be really great, too, so who knows. I wasnt really digging how they kept going backwards and forwards in time...haha coming from a mega-Lost fan, that seems like its not possible to be annoyed by that, but I was.

We re-started a tradition in our family this weekend: Saturday morning movies. While we were dating in college, AJ and I would always wake up on Saturday morning, go to a movie, and then eat a late breakfast/brunch. It was awesome. Lots of times, it ended up being a double feature after breakfast. And this weekend was no exception.

We snuck some McDonalds breakfast into the movie this time, and went to see Easy A at 9:30 a.m. I thought we would be the ONLY ones there, but there was actually several people there (by the way, movies before 11AM are less than half price). The movie was pretty funny; the part I laughed hardest at was when she was in the bedroom with the boy from Cougartown, and he said "What's that smell?" and it went down from there. SOOO funny I was crying. Although, why did they make Lisa Kudrow have an affair with that kid (who, btw, was Volcek from The OC!!!) That was totally unnecessary. Overall, pretty good movie, but not as good as I thought/heard it was. Maybe I had it hyped up too much.

Second movie up was The Town. Had to see it because it was taped basically in our backyard. And I dont mean that just because it was in Boston...I mean literally you see our backyard in the movie. It wasnt as good as I thought it was going to be, Blake Lively's part was WAY hyped up and completely useless, and the bank teller girl was so annoying because she liked Ben Affleck (criminal). I wont ruin the whole movie for you, but, honestly, I'd rather just watch The Departed again. It was way better and also taped in Boston. No Ben Affleck, but it does have Leonardo and Matt.

Has anyone seen the previews for that movie Catfish??? It is limited release right now, but looks so good (and its a SCARY movie!!)...so I think it may be our Saturday morning movie this weekend!

Oldies and Newbies

OLDIES:

Flipping Out. Jeff bought Zoila a car! And I love the rap that Jenny made for Zoila. Where does she go to make raps like that? It is the same place that she made one for Jeff's friend's baby Chloe, remember? (When she dressed as the green lizard thing?) If I knew of a place to make raps, I seriously would be making them all the time. I am good at rhyming. hahaha And, I am not bragging, but I know the words, and can rap along with, to every one of Eminem's most popular songs. I'm just sayin... Just picturing me rapping makes me laugh, but I really am serious about the Eminem thing.

Thintevention. I just really love Nikki (the blond British lady). Here is one example of why I love her--this conversation was hilarious.
Girl that I dont know her name:
..."medication I take is for polycystic ovary disease"
Nikki:
"How embarrassing is that? I dont ever want you to say that word again at the table. I can almost smell that."

Modern Family. Came back with another funny episode. Love that show! The Dad is just way too hilarious. But geez, we get it...Sophia Vergara's boobs are huge...do they really have to be displayed at all times?

NEWBIES:

Running Wilde. The new show with Will Arnett. Mmmmm...jury's still out on this one. It definitely had some funny moments, but the little girl gets on my nerves and I really am not enjoying her narrating it. It has potential so I will give it a few more eps to see how it continues.

Better With You. Another "eh" here. I want to like it, I really do...but I only have so much DVR power, so this one may get cut. I'll give it one more week (maybe). I hate the main girl's boyfriend...she would NEVER go for him in real life (I totally like her, btw).

Day 3

It is Day 3 of Fall Premiere Week, and all I can think about is how I am going to start a campaign to "Save Leah." As in, Gary's and Amber's offspring on Teen Mom . I feel so terrible for her. All of this time I have tried to think of ways to help Catelyn out of her terrible situation, when, really, Leah is just a baby and needs as much help or more! Poor Leah has to hear Amber blow-up and cuss out Gary on a daily basis. She is always standing at the window, presumably trying to find a way OUT. Poor Leah.

So both Gossip Girl and 90210 started last week, but this week's episodes kept the momentum going. Why wont Chuck and Blair just get together already...and STAY together?? And what is this girl up to trying to take down Serena? Why didnt we see Aunt Becky at all this week on 90?

YAY for How I Met Your Mother starting back. Again, I always fall back to the reality that they ruined the show when they revealed a few seasons ago that Robin is NOT the mother...and we now know that whoever Rachel Bilson's roommate is, that IS the mother. They should have just kept us guessing until the very end. That being said, VERY funny show and I just love NPH. Is this the last season---like officially?

Biggest Loser...why did they make the first episode so depressing?! Geez louise! Everyone's story was so freaking sad, I could hardly focus on how much weight they needed to lose! I do NOT like that they made some of them race in a 1 mile race to get on the show--look what the outcome was: 3 people almost dying just to win. Literally, passed out and barely alive. The Alaskan freak guy was just gross. The one mother who said her daughter went temporarily blind because she hadnt eaten or drank in 3 days? Well, one question came to mind: if you are a stay at home mom, how do you NOT know your child hasnt eaten or dranken in 3 days???? Way to keep an eye out, mom. (that is harsh, but come on. lets get serious here.) I am ready for the ranch. Love Bob, as always!

Havent gotten a chance to watch The Event yet, but I cannot WAIT!!!!

Has anyone been watching Rubicon?

How Do I Say Good-Bye To What We Had?

(Yes, that is a line from the Boys II Men song you remember from the 90s. And yes, I own the Boyz II Men #1 Hits CD. And yes, it is awesome.)

But I am not talking about Boyz II Men (though I miss them, too). I am talking about LOST. Seriously, I still think about the LOST finale several times a week. AJ and I still have conversations about what we think happened, or what something may have meant, or how we feel in general about LOST. I guess this is part of the mourning process?

Wow

Wow is all I have to say. I just decided to sit down and finally set my DVR for the BIG Fall TV premiere week (pretty much everything starts next week, so dont forget!). I have high hopes to catch a bunch of shows, both new and old. Can I do it all? Oh, the pressure!

There are several good movies out right now (or starting this weekend or soon) that I want to see too. Easy A, that excorcism movie, the movie about the guys who started Facebook, The Town, that Jamie Lee Curtis and Kristen Bell movie, and that scary movie that I dont know the title of but has scary kids in the previews.

OK, new show screening of the week: Hellcats. Totally WB/CW material. I watched the first episode (and another one is waiting on my DVR) and it was pretty legit (for a CW show). And if you werent sure which channel it was on, they threw in Q from the One Tree Hill family so we would remember.

I didnt realize how much I had actually missed by not seeing the last few episodes of last season's Gossip Girl. #1) Chuck got shot?! #2) Dan had a baby with Georgina?! What??!! I am pulled back in.

90210 was pretty good too. But having missed the last half of last season, I am missing Kelly, and I dont know why the principal isnt the principal anymore (and he and Aunt Becky are separated?!)! So much happened, and its back on my DVR too.

Happy viewing!

It Has Begun...

It started Monday night with 90210, and then Gossip Girl. I was so excited to see "NEW" in the description of the shows that I forgot that I had pretty much stopped watching both of those shows for lack of interest! Looks like I will give them another chance this season!

And I totally almost forgot about the new show with Jackie Warner on Bravo called Thintervention. Seriously, one of my new fave realities I think. First of all, how did I not know that Jeana Keough, from Real Housewives of OC, was going to be on this show? How perfect! AND I am in LOVE with the hilarious British lady. She is a total lush, and she said " I dont work. It's against my lifestyle." She totally gets me. hahaha

I usually feel really old when I watch the MTV Video Music Awards because there are all of these artists that I dont know and they are doing things that seems way too childish to be funny. However, this year, I am feeling young again! I knew every artist on there, all the songs, and didnt feel too old to get the jokes (sigh!). I felt young again for one night!

Speaking of young, has anyone else seen the Justin Beiber Proactiv commercial?? It is SOO freaking hilarious! He is too cute. He says something about being a teenager is hard, blah blah blah and says, "your feet grow like crazy. you CANT control that. your hormones are crazy...and I dont WANT to change that..." It is seriously so funny. Love him!

Yesterday at school, a mom came in and asked if I was Mrs. Gunn. I said yes, and she introduced herself and said her daughter, a first grader at my school, came home and all weekend had talked about how cute Mrs. Gunn's hair was. How cute is that? Then I started wondering, does my hair look like Ramona Quimby?

It's a Big Day

We already have had a busy day today. We went to the temple and did some service...in the kitchen. And by working in the temple's cafeteria, I was reminded why I dont do that much in my own kitchen. I made a huge mess out of preparing the salad bar with AJ, and baking cookies. I think the temple worker lady was ready to have us leave after a few hours.

Then we were off to visit someone in the hospital. Then I was off to Target (5th time this week) to get some gametime supplies. Then I cleaned house.

Now? Back to the Future Parts I and II on TV.

BYU vs. Air Force - 4 p.m.
Alabama vs. Penn State - 7 p.m.

Plenty of snacks for everyone = awesome time watching football today! I love college football season!

OK, so this week was Part 1 of the Top Chef finale. And they had to do a team challenge, which is COMPLETELY unfair. I hate team challenges because you can go home for someone else's mess! Totally not fair, and Kelly went home. I feel like anyone left could win, and, like everyone else, I am rooting against Angelo.

Project Runway also had a completely UNFAIR team challenge, where Ivy almost went home for her partner making a complete mess out of her design. I think the judges realized that it was out of her hands, so they didnt send her home, but FINALLY sent Cassanova home. FINALLY! He just doesnt get it. He was sort of funny though, sometimes.

I already posted my feelings about Teen Mom on facebook, but, to sum it all up again--I cant stand Caitlyn's skank mom. She is a druggie and gross and completely rude and childish. Poor Caitlyn is just so nice she tries to forgive and forget and dismiss her terrible mother's behavior. All of that because she is mad at Cailtlyn for making the best decision to give up her baby and not bring her into that drug house! And of course Farrah makes up with her Mom! I mean, why would she give up that free childcare? We all saw a few weeks ago when she let Sophia fall of the bed! (I cant stand Farrah, if you cant tell).

Secret Life: Now Ashley is throwing herself at Ricky and trying to sleep with him. I hope I am the only one left watching this because it is THAT bad.

And, the best show of the week (and past few weeks) was definitely Jersey Shore. These kids are just too hilarious. SOOO many funny lines and situations. And more desperate Sammy. And one scene Angelina HATES Vinny and thinks he is so ugly. The next scene they are in the 'Smoosh Room' together (yes they have a room they call the 'smoosh room.' use your imagination). And Mike's sister is like his twin and it is starting to sick me out. As gross as Jen Wow is, I like her now. Seriously, good show.

University of South Dakota is beating Minnesota? What???

Lounging

I realized today when I got home from work that for the last 2 days, AJ had only seen me in my lounge/sleep wear. Not that he cares AT ALL, but I had to laugh. I have been leaving early for work, and he has left a little later, so he doesnt see me in the morning. Then, I get home before him. And my routine after work is the same regardless of the time I get off of work, which is maybe kind of weird, but whatever. It's what I do. I get home from work, and immediately wash my face and take off my makeup. Then I change into my pajamas (which consist of lounge pants of some sort and an old navy tshirt). Regardless of the time of day, this is what I do (obviously unless I am going out somewhere that night, so I am not that bad). Its just a nightly ritual that helps me unwind and forget about the day. Because who wants to get home from work and think about work? Gross! Anyway, that was quite the ramble...

End of story: I like to lounge. Big surprise.

I cant remember the TV I have watched this week, but it is the beginning/middle of the week, so I am just getting started...

Sweet Caroline!

Hurricane? What hurricane? It barely even rained here, and we woke up today to an absolutely beautiful summer day (yes, still warm here thank goodness!). So, we said "What should we do today? How about we try and get tickets to the rescheduled Red Sox v. White Sox game today at 1?" OK! We were able to get a spanking deal on some Ah-Mazing tickets at Fenway. (5th row, peeps. Awesome) It was the perfect day for our first (and not last!) Red Sox game. Oddly enough, it was Manny Ramirez's first time back to Fenway since he left the team several years ago. It is odd because we were at the Dodgers game in L.A. the first time he played on their team after LEAVING the Sox! (He was sufficiently booed each time he got up to the plate by all Red Sox fans)

The first few innings of the game were sort of a blur once I realized we were sitting next to the pitcher's (Clay Buchholz)wife and new baby (adorable!). She was briefcase #27 girl on Deal or No Deal and has done a few other things too (check her out at this link) Apparently, he is quite the player (I am not talking baseball), too. Here she is with the cute little baby. Yes, I snuck a pic.

The next few innings were awesome for me, once we realized we were on TV the entire time. I was basically a celebrity for the day, and looking good with my new "Newbury Street haircut" (yes I got my hair cut at a Newbury Street salon and it was awesome).

Tonight? A little shin-dig at our place for Cambridge BYU fans to watch the game! Yay!

Here are our pics from Fenway. I got a ton of pics of players, but mostly Manny Ramirez (for obvious reasons), Ortiz (he was huge!), and Andruw Jones (old Braves player):

Word of the Day

So I think it has been a while since I posted on the last Jersey Shore episode. Oddly enough, out of all of the trash TV I watch, Jersey Shore is one of the shows that AJ and I can enjoy together. He came home the other night while I was watching the newest episode, and actually wanted me to start it over at the beginning so he could watch! Now if only he could get on board with Real Housewives...

Anyway, there have been quite a few funny things on the last few eps. I loved that the girls typed up a letter to give to Sammi (to inform her that Ronnie is cheating on her), and the way Ronnie deduced that there was no way Snooki could have written the letter was because the word "wisely" was used. He said she didnt use big words like that. And on that same note, Snooki did say that the word of the day was "sympathetic" because it was a big word. Now, I am no wordsmith or scholar by any means...but even I dont classify sympathetic as a "big" word. And is Sammi just the clingiest girlfriend EVER? Ugh she annoys me!

So I am a week behind on Secret Life, but last week I LOVED that Molly Ringwald made a 16 Candles comment on the show. They were talking about how everyone forgot Amy's birthday, and she said, "Everyone forgot my 16th birthday and it stuck with me the rest of my life!" LOVE IT!

I found a new fat show to watch (because I seriously just like watching obese people for some weird reason). "Too Fat for 15" is the name of the show, on TLC I think. It is a real life Fat Camp, but seriously, one of the girls is really big and it is sad. It is a good filler until Biggest Loser starts again (in just a little less than a month! Holler!!!!)

We watched a good movie this last weekend. It was a LITTLE odd, but not enough to bother me. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (with Michael Cera). Pretty entertaining. We also went to an improv comedy with some friends, and I decided it would be so freaking funny if I signed up to take an improv class. Really, I mean...how hilarious would that be if I had to TRY really hard to be funny? And by hilarity, I realize that it would only be funny to me. I seriously want to sign up.

I have to touch a little bit on the disappointing Emmys that were Sunday night. How does LOST not win best drama? Over Mad Men (quite possibly one of the most popular boring shows EVER!!!)???? LOST needed to win SOMETHING! HELLO? When has there EVER been a TV phenomenon like Lost? Never!

OK, enough on that. I was happy that the 2 actors from Breaking Bad won (even though Locke or Ben Linus didnt win). Breaking Bad is a good show, with good acting (my professional opinion of course). Of course Modern Family deserved it too. Love that show.

On a more pressing annoyance at the Emmy's: Betty White. She is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO played out right now, and I am OVER it. Fine, put her on a funny SNL skit, and we all laugh and reminisce on The Golden Girls (great show). But she seriously loses her "freshness" (if you can call it that) when she is EVERYWHERE. I am over you, Rose. And where/why did she come back all of a sudden anyway?

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Yes, the Fall TV Premiere Line-up has been posted on Eonline. Yay! And here it is: LINEUP.

SO, what am I most excited about?

RETURNING SHOWS that yall know I love:
Its Always Sunny
Gossip Girl
90210 (this season is supposed to get good again!)
How I Met Your Mother
Biggest Loser
Modern Family
Cougartown
The Office
Community
30 Rock
Friday Night Lights (DirecTV first).

OMG...so excited for those.

NEW SHOWS that I want to watch:
Hellcats (more teenage drama on The CW)
The Event (maybe a LOST replacement??--on a much lower level. HIGH POTENTIAL FOR LAMENESS THOUGH)
Running Wilde (Tues on FOX---with Will Arnett and created by same guy who did Arrested Development)
Better With You (Wed on ABC--minor funny-potential so I am giving it a chance)
My Generation (ABC, on the fence about this one. follows HS Seniors year 2000 then follows up 10 years later to see where their lives took them. Cool idea, but could be sucky)
Outsourced (definitely a must-see that we are all looking forward to from NBC---MUST WATCH THIS!)

You're welcome.

Tuesday PM

AJ just reminded me that I hadnt blogged in a while! Geez! I need to learn how to re-adjust to working full time while managing my TV shows!

SO last week I tuned in to the new show Melissa and Joey (remember? The new Who's The Boss?). Dont waste your time. It was lame. And no matter what Joey says, he is going bald. It looked like they sort of "sprayed" stubby hair on the top-front of his head to make it look like there was hair there, but NO. He isnt fooling anyone.

I know it was last week, but the Scary Bunny Suit worn by Gary on Teen Mom has to be brought up here (Shauna! You know what I am talking about!). It was freaking weird, scary, hilarious, sad, gross. I laughed SOOO hard when Amber said (to her baby) "Easter bunny's sweatin'!" and "Say, you're lazy Easter Bunny!"
And I cant be the only one that sort of felt like Farrah got what she deserved after being scammed from selling her car on craigslist to an unknown buyer.

Fave quote from last week's Project Runway: "I'm not like a cat with 7 life!" (said by Cassanova, and, yes, I meant to type 'life') When is he ever going to go home?!

Has anyone seen The Switch movie yet? I want to go.I also am really having to hold myself back from going to see that exorcism movie! They pull me in every time!!!!

Just a Few Things

Yeah, right. I had to catch up on a TON of tv from last week. What a sacrifice! :)

Project Runway: Geez these people are way two-faced with each other and are already getting catty! The one girl who keeps winning is getting WAY cocky, too. But I think we all agree that it was PAST Cassanova's time to get sent home. Thank goodness. He had the worst taste.

LAST WEEK'S Teen Mom: I loved the scene where Gary proposed to Amber on the beach...and she just continues to be verbally abusive in that moment. She is pissed because he didnt say "Will you marry me?" but said "Do you want to marry me?" or something like that. She is so gross.

I havent watched this week's Teen Mom because my DVR betrayed me and recorded it, but then wouldnt play anything after the first 3 seconds. I am recording it again at 8PM tonight.

Pretty Little Liars: What exactly was meant by "summer finale?" Please tell me that doesnt mean that it was indeed renewed to start in the Fall. Then again, if One Tree Hill continues to live on past Peyton and Lucas, then I guess anything can happen. Anyway, the most entertaining part of this week's episode was when one of the girls was wearing a shirt that I had tried on at Forever 21 earlier this week...which once again reminded me that I am probably too old to be shopping in there in the first place.

Secret Life: WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE ADULTS. Please stop having awkward scenes between Ricky's foster dad and Ben's dad, and Adrienne's dad. Focus on the teen pregnancy pact going on at that high school!!

HUGE: Chloe is a real butt for not telling anyone that the one fat dude is her brother. And it was hilarious when Haley Hasselhoff got dumped by her camp counselor boyfriend. How old is he supposed to be anyway?

Top Chef: Bye bye Alex. We all did not like you. You are weird and your family will probably be on Wife Swap one day.

Flipping Out: I want free lunch at Casa whatever too! And Jeff must really like his brother and his sister in law to be willing to keep her sister working for him. That girl is ANNOYING and so ditzy. Seriously, is she really that dumb-acting? I just feel like it HAS to be an act.

Intervention: OMG where is Ken Seeley???!!! We havent seen him all season as the inteventionist, and last night, they had a new GIRL interventionsist!!! Ken!!! I hope you didnt have a relapse! (He really was a drug addict before he did interventions on other people)

GOOD...no GREAT TV NEWS BELOW!!!!!!

Friday Night Lights will be starting (from season 1!!!!) on ABC Family in September. HOLLER!!!! You have to watch!

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM makes it to network tv! I am not sure what channel (it is channel 39 where I am). But if you have never had the chance to watch it you should!

And, lastly... Thintervention is a new show starting on Bravo in September featuring none other than my fave WORKOUT show celeb (literally, the show Workout that I miss so much!) Jackie Warner! She helps 8 chubby people lose weight. And she is looking built as ever!
